Casual pitboss?

True, practice's not casual man, not casual.

I tend to be on the pro-DYOS / anti-trading side, so I'd be fine with that. Also with Joey's game concept.

My guess:
Full terrain knowledge at start?

I just hope it isn't this...

Since I got name-checked here, some clarifications:
Editing a building's cost should be easy, assuming it's just a typo in the XML (either mistyping the cost or adding a second entry; the latter might have been part of the planned then aborted naval building overhaul)--presumably since I've worked on it before I'm part of the support staff for it? Then again, this would be easier if Krill actually used all the parts of the version number (has the second number ever not been 0?), so I could do a minor release.

Editing the GG XP counter might be a little harder, as I haven't dug into that part of the code--I assume it's XML though?

I don't know if tying map trading to barbs ever got in the main patch line, but I do know 3.0.0.5 (the one running PB27) just has it disabled. Have any games been run on RTR 3 that aren't 3.0.0.5?

Active Espionage was removed in 2.0.7.6, city gifts were removed in the 3 line.

Hey, got it in 1! Something like that at least. The idea is that there will be *something special* on the map that you can capture somehow (not holiday gifts though scared), and that on T5, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 200, and 300, I'll post a global leaderboard in the tech thread or something of how many each player's got.

As I see it RtR 3 has several disadvantages. Beyond the obvious balance things (early tech speed way too fast in PB27, moai, GG, animals and probably others I'm forgetting) it means no city trading, which we haven't agreed upon. I for one would like them on like in PB28.

I know this is casual and stuff but we should avoid rushing the setting stage to the risk of making it a worse game experience for everyone.

Reading this discussion, think I'd prefer running with the 2.7.0.6 mod (or whatever was the version we used in Pitboss 28)

I have no problem with city gifts, especially in a casual pitboss, as long as the "don't be a dick" rule applies

As someone who had suggested using the most recent mod, I'm more than willing to defer to the judgment of players with more experience playing both versions, and go with 2.0.7.6 if that is generally considered to be the better mod.

And I have no opinion either way on city-trading.

+1, wasn't aware of the problems

I like 2.0.7.6 better to backtrack on the removal of cottage pillaging.

I feel pretty strongly that city trading and/or gifting is a bad idea. If you need to give up a city to an invader you could just remove the defending garrison and offer peace. The opponent should decline, look over the entire map, capture the empty city, then reoffer peace. I think city gifts allow the potential for shenanigans and can lead to great frustration. We have seen that before and I'd like to avoid it if possible, even if this is a casual game.

Also, as noted, the big game setting consolidation post is not intended to move the goalposts on any setting. I was just trying to put things front and center to move discussion forward as we seemed to be stalling. Nothing in there was set in stone but was more or less what seemed be agreeable to those who had posted in most cases, or had not yet been commented on.

It may appear non-casual, but a quick vote on each setting is easy and efficient. Thoughts?
