What's the plan for economics? Use rep just for happiness or make some kind of specialists+cottages hybrid?
I'm pretty much out of contested land to expand into on the main land. I've still got a few more cities I can backfill. There also seems to be a few islands out there that I can expand into. I will try to grab some screenshots later. The map has around 166 land tiles per player. I've claimed 128 tiles of it already.
My GNP is pretty much in the dumpsters right now because the early wars, so I'm hoping to run a lot of Rep scientists to make up for that. Considering that I have cheap libraries and a lot of food, this seemed to be the best way to stay relevant in the tech race against the likes of Ichabod and BGN, who are both FIN.

I've only got whales and gems right now, and I have sugar, spices and dyes nearby, but those requires Calender which is currently of relative low priority.
The techs I need right now:
Currency (free commerce and wealth builds)
Ironworking (Iron and be able to chop jungle from 2 gems and 2 pigs)
HBR (to defend myself from my crazy neighbours)
Metal Casting (cheap forges and maybe even Colossus)
Unfortunately my tech rate is quite poor, so choices are difficult to make.
I'm going to try for the Great Wall and the Hanging Gardens, hopefully my neighbours can leave me alone a little longer...
