sunrise089 Wrote:Question: How do gold refunds work now? IMHO building wealth isn't that bad (at least in CTONs where I do it often....tech pace is fast, so extra units don't help (and we have 2 unit pumps anyways) and in a production city we only need 2 infra builds) even at 1:1. But if refunds are for total beakers, isn't that 2.5 gold refunded for every hammer invested? Ok, maybe we don't want to land wonders, but why not get the gold?

There are conflicting rumours, but Ruff did a playtest in PBEM1. He built the Eiffel Tower with access to iron, and when Dreylin finished the wonder Ruff got 1 gold for each hammer in the box, not 1 gold for each base hammer invested.
I have to run.

I would say GSpys are easily woth 30 hammers. You can use them for GA's
or settle/SY them and over time you might get to see other peoples research / or even city-visibility. At least it makes it harder for your opponents to get visibility on your research etc.
With a total cost of 60 hammers I think it absolutly worth building.

Yaz in game, seems to have Alphabet, going to see if I can kill him before he trades it.

Lost a Chariot at 68%, other two won. He has a city still.

Looks like his city is 4W and 1S of the capital.

Okay, well I didn't make any other moves sunrise. Didn't even manage cities. Only thing I did was request Iron Working in game from the Turks. I'll do the city management later in the day, and let you do the troop management.

You can see his borders 4W1S. I was chatting with Yaz in game, he implied the new site has Copper and is on a Hill. That is good news, because Portugal had a stakeout over there smile. I IM'd Willem, it is pretty much on them to log in before Rome and try and take out that city (I warned them to get in early yesterday). Yaz offered trades to Rome in game I am sure, but it has not gone through yet as they don't have Hunting. I am sort of curious to see if they go through even if he is eliminated.

Offer from Byz:

Quote:As per my chat with Darrelljs, and agreed upon by all members of team Byzantine AKA The Spectres, here are the proposed terms of our NAP:

- The immediate establishment of a 20 Turn NAP (I believe that this has already been agreed upon.) I am under the impression that OB with a "no revealing screen caps (of each other's territory) to other factions" clause is also in effect; to that end, we have proposed them in-game.

- Both India and Byzantium will work together to establish a longer-term NAP, with a potential cool-down period and/or auto-renewal clause. My team is pretty much open to suggestions here, we don't have anything particular in mind; just adding an auto-renew to the current NAP would work fine, or extending it on a piecemeal basis.

- We would like to suggest amending the NAP to include no gifting of units to parties in which the other is engaged in war, or which are explicitly intended to be used in a war by a third party agent against either Byzantium or India.

- Additionally, we suggest an agreement that the neither side will allow hostile forces to use their territory to strike at the other party. However, we are willing to abandon this idea should India have grounds for objection.

- Most importantly, India agrees to not settle above the present location of Yaz's capital, toward Byzantium. The core principle here is non-negotiable from our standpoint; we likewise will agree to not settle south of Yaz's capital toward India.

- We did not discuss a confidentiality agreement regarding these terms in chat; if you are interested in one, let us know.

I think that's everything. Let me know if you all have any suggestions of your own to add.

So... 1 for 2? On a hill but doesn't have copper?

It was a "panic" settle to avoid getting eliminated. We don't need to rush to take it out, whatever happens between Portugal and Rome now is out of our hands. We honored our obligation to our ally. We need to finish Yaz off, but we need to re-deploy some of our Chariots to guard our far flung borders as well. That's for sunrise to figure out smile.

Like sooooo said, priority needs to be Fast Workers cause we've got a lot of land to improve. IW is in and we need to get on that Silver ASAP. We have a ton of gold so we are in no danger of a strike even with resettling t-shirt contest, but we can't tech for jack and people are going to get tired of supporting us.

Our new city is definitely a commerce city BTW.
