The "no gifting" and "no acting as a staging ground" clauses are fine for the long term NAP. So you want to basically have an open ended NAP that can be ended by either party but has a 10 turn cool down period?
For the settling agreement, our experience in past games is that being absolutely explicit is necessary to avoid future issues. To quote your offer:
"India agrees to not settle above the present location of Yaz's capital, toward Byzantium. The core principle here is non-negotiable from our standpoint; we likewise will agree to not settle south of Yaz's capital toward India. "
We need to clarify a line of demarcation, or perhaps even coordinate dot maps. For example, on the chat with Darrell yesterday, Bob mentioned that you were not interested in the Pigs site, even though this site is technically north of Yaz's former capital. The best way to do this is via screenshots, which we are allowed to share after contact. Would you be able to send us a screenshot with a proposed line of settlement?
The other alternative is to identify a tile that India will not settle north and west of, but is allowed to settle south of, and is allowed to settle north of since it is not towards Byzantium. We really prefer the first option because it is more explicit, but the second option should also work.

We've got the ball in our court from e-mails from multiple civs. Here is Rome's
Quote:Dear DJ,
I imagine you are quite busy with your campaign against Sumeria so let me simply congratulate you on your victory at Bison Pass. While a decisive victory on your part is not in our best interest, for obvious reason, one should always appreciate a skillfully executed attack when hiding behind city defenses is often such a viable strategy. Smash was there to witness the battle but will now leave the scene so you won't have to worry about him possibly acting as a sentry for the Sumerians. We will continue to talk things over with Cath Bruig, and appreciate that you took the time to answer us despite our previous misjudgement.

I recently met Rome and decided to see if I could form some sort of friendship with them with the aim of opening a door. It was going pretty well until they got ainsy about my 1 warrior invading them. Then I woke this morning to this ...
It has come to our attention that several nations are planning an attack on us. You are allied to each and every one of them, and for the time being we have to go by the assumption that you might be just as much of a lying bastard as Mukha of Cath Bruig is. Failure to immediately remove your unit from the vicinity of our borders will be considered an act of war. Your units will be welcome to visit us again should you decide to renounce your alligience to the CAN.
Here is a screenshot of what I can see. They cannot be afraid of a warrior so they must be concerned about something else. In my mind, that 'something else' can only be map or unit information.

Pass this on to anyone who might be interested in Rome.

Quote:We meet at last! Richard the Lionhearted has met your wounded warrior near Krill's territory. In-game, we have requested Open Borders and Masonry. Can you let us and Krill know when we have Masonry in our possession, so that we can get Mono from Krill and start Monarchy at full speed? We believe it will complete in 9t, so it'll be available T79 +/- 1t.
For gchat, I am remaining invisible over the next few turns, because I want to control when we talk to France. So don't be surprised if you get a chat from an invisible England. For the most part, Cyneheard is the one managing the diplomacy.

Congrats on taking Exploit's city! I'm guessing it was the one to your west, on flatland. Didn't he have any idea you were planning on attacking him? Or was he still defending it with warriors?
Things are heating up here as well, as Portugal is about to declare on Rome. As for us, well, let's say we have a little surprise in store for the French...
We will discover HBR on T72, unless something catastrophic happens to our nation. When will you guys finish Metal Casting? (lots and lots of beakers needed!)

Good to hear from you. It has been pretty quiet after the Inca peace deal. I've been monitoring their units and they are heading back to their land. I sent out 4 archers north to scout ... 1 to my 3rd city site. One got killed by a barb at 10% odds (I now see a Combat II warrior around). The other two are revealing desert, rivers and floodplains to my north - I expect that you are in the same boat regarding your north.
You have a lovely city site to your south - horse, sheep, sugar and fur. I've looked all over the map for my fur only to decide that Sullla really does hate me.
I have a warrior to your south (0.3 health after being mauled by a warrior that had 7% odds) that is looking for Portugal. He is not stopping to heal ... it would take too long. I have a backup if he dies.
Over to the east, I met Rome (past Inca) and sent them a message (no reply yet). That warrior is continuing NE hoping to locate some of the people in the row above us.
My tech rate is horrible - I am saving coin and sitting on Monarchy. I am also rebuilding some pillaged tiles and seeking to get them back up and running as soon as possible. I think it will take me a very long time to get my tech rate up so I am planning on improving my economy to support troops instead of supporting tech.
Good to hear about Exploit / Yaz. Are you knocking him out of the game totally so that CANT cannot get alphabet? How is our cartel going?

How do we want to divide this up? I think we need to just let the person assigned to the letter send it out, with the exception of Rome and Byzantium. Those we need to discuss as a team.
How about I take Byz and HRE, while regoarrarr takes Rome, Aztecs, and England?

Okay I can do that. And don't think I didn't notice you putting every letter in its own post for thread spamming purposes

How about a big messy screenshot?
First, Yaz's city is empty. We have 3 chariots able to hit it next turn, in various levels of health. We can kill an archer, a warrior, or an axe, a sword is questionable, and a spear or Praet is very doubtful.
Next, I love our dotmap. It isn't the easiest to defend one I've seen, but look at how little overlap (red) or missed tiles (blue) there is. I'd actually prefer to settle the iron city in the south next (12/12/4 at pop 4), then re-plant T-shirt, then settle the pig city to the north, and then consider planting near the ruins of Yaz's final city. Grassland hill iron + floodplain are a pretty good start to a city.
Right now two of our workers are chopping an aqueduct at Karaoke and two are making roads from Yaz's old cap to our cap. Those two will then go on silver mining duty. Does that sound OK? What about the new worker HH is producing? Silver mining duty too? Or should it chop the Great Wall in HH or BB or Yaz's old cap (which I have renamed Mechanical Bull...does that work for you guys?)?
Finally, I think we should keep our archer and two warrior between our three original cities, keep 2 chars between the two captured cities, and send 2 chars out scouting. That should work OK until we found our 6th city, after which we can build metal units anyways.

It's good to finally meet you. We've been wandering the desert for lo these many (thousands of?) years. We actually had 2 warriors early on (including our original one) die to lions at insane odds (4% and 21%). So it's made it a bit hard to meet folks. The crazy desert that is between us has not been helpful in that regard either.
Great news on Monarchy - as you've probably heard we are on our way to Metal Casting. We are still recovering from having to whoop Sumeria, so we should know within 10t or so when we should expect to have it.
We're fairly available on gchat and we understand you wanting to manage things - so feel free to chat us up if you need anything

Quote:Hey Ruff,
Thanks for the intel - do you know where exactly that sugar is? It's in the fog of our map still. I'm sure I have it around somewhere but if you happen to see it let us know.
Speaking of intel - thanks for the map of Rome's lands - I'm not really sure what they're doing either. Probably just feeling nervous but I find it deliciously ironic that we were put in the same position (their warrior hanging around while Maya was attacking us as well as when we were trying to take out Sumeria). We didn't ask them to move, but to be fair I suppose they did eventually move him away.
You may have no fur, but it sure seems like every other civ has gold near their civ. Where's ours?!? Sulla hates US I think :-)
We just met England and they are researching Monarchy - they said it should be T79 +/- 1t. We're on Metal Casting but we too are trying to rebuild economy. We should be able to take out Yaz next turn but we couldn't stop Alphabet. We were 1 (or 2) turns late. We took his capital last turn but he had a settler out.
Let's keep in touch. What do you hear out of Krill? We've been a bit worried that he's up to no good - so just wondering if you've heard of him. We'll definitely want to keep an eye on him
