Reply from Rome
Quote:Hey DJ's, I think that we should tell them that we're not involved in any type of war with them, but in such a way that we don't really confirm nor deny any kind of attack from Portugal. I mean they KNOW (or at least think they know) it's coming, but we can't let it get leaked to Portugal that we tipped them off in any way. Another open item is how much of this we send to Portugal. I think it's in our best interests that they dont' call of the attack, don't you?
Why tell Rome anything? Portugal is going in soon right? Why piss Portugal off by possibly tipping Rome off? And since we're not sending anything can Rome really be that mad at us? They'll see who is incoming soon enough, right?
What do you guys think about Rome's "suicide mission" stuff? Surely they can't have more than 1 Praet per city, right? Portugal isn't the AI - if Rome has Praets/spears, you either try to take a city that's lightly defended or you just turn around and go home. No reason to "suicide" anything. After this email I think the chances Rome won't have many defenders went up. There is no way 12 chariots in one stack won't cause damage, so they seem to be trying to bluff us out of the fight. Finally, if Portugal does fail in their attack it illustrates a common mistake ladder players make - with tech rates pretty constant across teams in anc games the "one more unit, one more turn" tendency can be fatal. 7 chariots is a lot better than our 5, but not if it's more than a turn or two later (I think we could have had 8 charts by delaying our attack 3 turns).
The attack is going to come t72, I'd say we reply after the DoW. I see no reason why we should not be honest with Rome. We can tell them Portugal has felt us out in pretty much the same way that Rome just did, but we are just in no position to get involved right now even if we wanted to.

From civstats:
Quote:3/20/10 12:04 am SsS Sandover Finished turn Got to assume those are Spear whips from queued Warriors that were auto-upgraded when they acquired Hunting. Portugal's only achievable goal IMO is to pillage Copper, raze the theoretical Iron city, and choke until they can get Axes. Darrell
Ok, got our warriors into BB so we're safe from the Quechua.
Killed Yaz with our wounded chariot, which is now free to go scout. What do you want to do with our two roading workers Darrell? Since I'm defending the two new cities with a pair of chariots stationed between them, they don't actually HAVE to complete the road between BB and MB. Would you rather they head straight to the cap to hook up the silver?
CAn't get in game but we want to chop jungle so we cane mine the silver fast when Baja Beach Club comes out of resistance. Maybe send one to mine LN silver as well.
