This is the subject of my city naming scheme!

The big fellow in this picture is Totoro. My capital will be called: City of Totoro!

EDIT: interesting fact that this is an artwork picture that wasn't ever in the film.

Summoner makes units last 2 turns, not 3.

Cool - although that means there is an error in xienwolf's manual, my main source of ffh info!

Yeah there are errors in some places of the various wikis and manuals. Maybe summoner used to have them last 3 turns, but was updated to 2 in a newer version.

Looking that up on Wiki, it seems there are not enough characters to theme the kingdom from Totoro alone, so is the theme Miyazaki in general?

City names will be based on Studio Ghibli films in order of how much I like them/importance.

My Neighbour Totoro - although written by Miyazaki before the formation of Studio Ghibli, became their flagship movie and now, it is Totoro's silhouette that is their emblem.

For units I am thinking that warriors are going to be Soot Spites/Dust Balls like these little fellows who are stealing some shoes:

The rest I'll decide on later

I've never played as Amurites so can't comment them.

I really like to play Sheaim in SP. Lot of fun stuff. In MP I suspect their main unique value are the Pyre Zombies. Setting up the planar gates and all the buildings they need and raising AC takes a lot of time and hammers. Furthermore I think they can't go over AC 90. At least in 1 SP game Avatar of Wrath killed the game. The things coming out of the gates are really mixed bag that won't work that well together on offensive, but they're all at least someway useful.

From early stuff Moebius Witches are probably most notable ones. Industrious Os-Gabella tries almost certainly to build the Catacomb Librarus. They're basically Mages starting from ~15 experience and getting random level I spells. Especially with Tebryn they're very easy to get to Eater of the Dreams level. Although Strength of Will takes a while so we might not see them in this game.

I haven't played Belseraphs as Keelyn and there is a quite a while from my previous game so can't remember that much. They have lot of nice unique things to play with. From early things most notable ones are naturally Loki and then Freaks. Harlequins might also come early and they have potentially nasty Taunt spell. Puppets and Summoner makes them also dangerous in magic, but it might be that game is over before they really could start to play a big role. Especially without Arcane trait to level up the Adepts/Mages.

Agreed - the Pyre Zombie is going their stock unit. Morbius witches aswell will be really useful. If I were Seroda I would build the Catacomb and then planar gates to get as many of those witches as possible.

Yeah whenever I play the Sheaim Mobius Witches are fantastic. Ready to go mages, I love it.

Interested to hear your take on the other opponents. So far it seems we have only 1 early game threat.
