[SPOILER] PBEM21, "Zero to Hero" (Kuro, Pericles' Ottomania)

So, turn in. Equius has good hammers and goes on a HA to keep the invasion force rollin' once it gets goin', with Sollux's overflow + hammers going into a Forge since it can't build reasonably timed units. Rose? A Christian Temple, for the hammer + happiness. Leijon? A Library because it's a commerce city and makes max use of overflow.

Now then, on to the WAR ROOM...although there isn't really much to WAR ROOM.

I doubt any defense tougher than Archer + Axe + Spear is around, but he'll assuredly whip out some defender. You may have noticed from the first immage that my horses can't reach the borders this turn...unless, I move Ducky/Itchy and Crowbar/Cayden...

...Yes, I know that trick wasn't even close to being anything great or even good, but hey, I gotta pull something out of my hat. I capped the Worker on my borders, moved Karkat's HA out of Karkat, moved Doc Scratch/Gemini to chop a forest to put into Rose's temple aaaaaaaaaaand to clear a riverside grassland for cottaging, had Fin/Trace finish their last for now road and with nothing in need of whipping ended my turn.

I lost 3 GPT from declaring Jkioan and 8 from moving my HA into his borders, but just EOT growth + cottages gave me 7 GPT back from that. So yeah.

Diplo was mostly making sure Lewwyn wasn't going to backstab me. I couldn't get a NAP or a guarentee, but he seems to want to kill Jkioan(First, anyway), so he'll "meet me in the middle". Even if he's lying to me, I think stopping the war means losing at this point, so...LET'S DO THIS!

Rose whips it's Christian Temple. Unfortunately, Jkioan discovered Feudalism this turn, as evidenced by using his surplus gold to upgrade to Longbows everywhere. Grr.

On the plus side, I forked these two cities and should be able to take them, but until Catapults, other progress will be slow...and I need to build defenders too, obviously. I've got Workers chopping shit out for just that reason.

Quite frankly nothing else of interest happened. Literally, not one other thing. EOT, though, a lot of builds finish: Captor's forge(Base production of 23 + 25%, before Christian hammers), Equius' HA, Rose's Temple, Leijon's Library(Whipped), your mom...

Well, unfortunately, NH decced on me and ofc razed Karkat, 'cause I was like 1T away from defending it. Fortunately, Karkat is not a city I give a single shit about. His "force" right now is a single Axe, which isn't anything to worry about. I also took Jane Smith this turn, but lost 5 HAs: A little worse than expected, mostly due to the fact a Spearman appeared there(Not sure how...thought for sure that Jkioan was 2T away from reinforcements, but I guess not). I kept it and have about 6 HA there, but losing about 2 HA more than expected means I can't take more cities yet. But on the plus side, Construction in 2T!

Can't say anything else, really...Workers chopping all around, whipped Sollux's Forge given the circumstances...really had to war here even if it turns out badly, because not a lot of options. I think where I went wrong this game was I stopped expanding too early.

The game asks me to switch to Serfdom, despite not knowing the nessecary tech...

And if I look at the civics screen by asking to see the "big picture"(or after), Serfdom isn't an option...

BUT, if I say "yes" to the change...

It changes me to Serfdom, despite saying I require Feudalism!

And it even shows that if I switch out of it, I couldn't switch back, because the civic is not avalibile!

What gives here?

And yes, you can see I'm not in Beaurcracy...since Lewwyn attacked, I want to finish a round of units before revolting.

Anyway, OBVIOUSLY I said no to the Serfdom change, thus re-locking the option until Feudalism. Uh, okay.

Eridan finishes a Worker, so I put it on a Spearman: Need some non-HA troops, since my shock charge only got one city. Sollux finished it's Forge and will also go for a Spear, but Aradia Megido will go for an Axe. Gotta vary the stack protection. Lesse...Chariot finished off my wounded HA, but since I am pretty sure a Spear is in counter-attack range, I won't attack it. Four chops come in, giving help to Rose, Equius, Captor, Aradia Megido and even Jane Smith(Which I have now renamed Strider) for unit production. Leijon whips an Axe too, ofc.

EOT, Axe, Axe, HA, HA completed at various places and Construction in. Can you guess the next builds?

Turn in, research set to Machinery(NH apparantly has Knights, but I need Machinery to get to Engineering if I wanted to counter that AND Maces for anything else). Everything that just finished building stuff is set to Catapults for obvious reasons. Units heading towards the right-side warzone, of course. Not much special happened, mostly just chopping forests, built a road or two and making sure no Workers were in capture range. Or cities, of course.

Turn in: Equius goes for a 1T Catapult after finishing it's last one, so does Captor, Rose goes for a 6T Spear instead. Too bad I can't use War Elephants: They'd be really useful here!

Using a HA I can return to my city same turn, we can see NobleLewwyn setting up forces. In the immortal words of Superman 64...

THERE'S NO TIME TO WASTE!

Workers pretty much all just chop forests, except the ones at Tavros Nitram(Finished a farm).

Tavros whipped his Forge and nothing else of consequence happened, just moving around units. A bit long and tedious to do, but nothing to report on.

No battle plans to speak of.

EOT, Jane Smith(Which will be renamed to Jane Crocker next turn) finishes an Archer, Aradia a Catapult, Captor and Equius also catapults, Tavros' Forge, Feferi will be ready to drop the pimp in the crib while it is hot(IE build military) starting next turn.
