Why would I ever advocate that. It's actually:

Heh, seriously, all the greens are completely and utterly screwed, blued, and tattooed with Dazed's entry.

Compare that statement to your player rankings in the 31 tech thread... I'm more nervous there than I'm letting on.

Agreed!

Left unsaid in the thread: the canal will only work one way. Each team has 2 such canal chances on each coast. Anyone who holds both spots on 1 side will be safe on that side until astronomy!
Again, I really like that feature.

I am normally not the "I told you guy" but in that case, Gaspar and NH I told you... on 20th December
Quote:So, from all that, I personally would try for GLH. If you want that, you should probably settle that (crap) grassland tile below the sheep to your northeast. With T25 border pop from the cap you have 6 forests in the culture radius of that city. And working sheep + PH + GLH should get you 9 hammers a turn. Aided by 78 hammers from chops thats 6 turns for the GLH. Playing it through quickly that should get you GLH by T40. Maybe you can get it earlier if you go for BW before Sailing so that you can accumulate some whip overflow. You'd probably need to get the settler before the T23 I have set it up with, due to the needed time to grow back after the whip.
Well, that would have been GLH for you instead of mackoti. It's exactly this "I do a little bit of that, a little bit of this" with no clear plan that makes your game weaker then it needed to be. And I don't mean that getting GLH no matter the cost would have been the right strategy. But either settle that shitty 2nd city just for it, but then really go for it too. Or don't settle that city...

It's interesting how the mirror seems to be working thus far. Right now it looks like in both greens and vets games:
-FDR nails both 'henge and GLH without too much issue.
-Suleiman makes the Oracle, whips forge, and uses the GE on the 'mids.
-Justinian cheerfully expands wide and into a whole while making cottages, being first to the FP site.
-Mao makes a late, failed attempt at the GLH and settles the knee-quakingly good copper/corn/horse site a day late and a dollar short.

This seems like a misplaced beeline, giving up currency commercy for future golden age benefit. I hope they realize that if they beeline currency they won't need to use an engineer to rush the MoM, at least.

Perhaps someone gave him psychic scarring by beating him to it in the last game? :neenernee
Seriously, though, yes, while the MoM and Phi go together amazingly well, if the cats do land the 'mids why on earth wouldn't Literature be their next goal?

Okay, well, this game got more than a little boring. Pity, I was looking forward to watching the map play out. I'm rather annoyed at the Justinian players in each game, Kuro for being Kuro and getting forcibly evicted in favor of a ringer who will crush them all, and Lewwyn for stopping what would have otherwise been a very interesting and even GLH/Colossus/Pyramids/cottage economy split. As it is, I'm looking for an over-under on the other players concessions:
Greens: Turn 110
Vets: Turn 120

I like the colossus, and I like the 'mids, but I think there's a bit of an anti-synergy between the two. In the former, you want to put your happy cap to use working coast tiles. In the latter, you want to put your happy cap to use working farms and scientist slots. That's my impression, but getting both wonders is still pretty strong and you can always farm your inland cities and put excess food in your coastal cities into scientists as well.
Maybe since Dazed is a vet, he should be forced to CTON with everyone else
