Our scouts appear to have met, Mr. BrickAstley. I propose a peaceful relationship between our two empires, so we can both prosper in this cruel world. As an act of good will, I'll inform you that your scout will be unable to pass through my territory to his south, so to save time I recommend he turn around now. smile

Aha, I was expecting this Communiqué, and had a hunch it would be from you, so I am glad to see that I was correct with my assumptions. Glad to meet you Sir Azza, and my scout offers yours many salutations as he passes by back to my homelands. I would also like to inform you that if your scout passes by mine towards my homelands farther, he will likewise be unable to pass through much territory, and won't find anything that you won't be able to already see. wink

I counter-propose a peaceful relationship, as since the nice Mister Serdoa has borne us into a land of close distances and risky openings, it would be very beneficial for the both of us to have a border that we can count on to be safe, and keep either us from reliving your tragic opening to PB7. frown So, would you be willing to enact a NAP for a decent but not absurdly long amount of time? I've still not got the feel for how long such a thing should be, so I'll be open for discussion for the length of it. smile

My sense of timescale is completely off for Quick speed, so I suggest something with an easy to remember date? tongue Something like 1AD?

Dang, I just checked the turn times and 1AD is turn 75, that's quite long. But I understand you wanting a long one after last game, so I'll be okay with doing a longer one anyways smile maybe just not quite that long, how would turn 50 (1000 BC I believe) sound to you?

Also, we are rather close and settling could be an issue once settlers ccome about. I don't have any of those fancy settling plams in mind, so maybe we can add on a "no settling within 5 tiles of another's capital" clause to that?

1000BC is alright too. With a settling plan, I propose that you don't settle any further east than where our scouts are now, and I don't settle any further north along our spoke than 2S of your scouts current position.

I'm not sure about that, it depends on if you mean where our scouts were when we first met, or where they might be this turn, so I'll have to see when the turn comes my way. smile So do you mean where the scouts will be when I get the safe, or the turn before that?

Where the scouts were before you played Turn 4.

I appreciate that offer Mr. Azza, but I can't say yes to that. frown I don't mind agreeing to that longer NAP, but the settling agreement you're proposing is basically saying that I cannot settle a mere 4 tiles from my capital, and I would prefer to have a little more breathing room than that. My offer of not more than 5 tiles from each capital seems more reasonable to me.

Hypothetically, you give me the possibility of settling within 5 tiles of my capital, and I can settle the plains forest by your capital. I'm sure you have other land to settle that is not along our spoke, which is why I strongly recommend that we focus on settling other lands that are not in dispute. I don't want a creative civ planting cities so close to my capital, I'm sure you can understand why.

You're right that I do have other land to settle, and you do as well; and I don't want this to become a major contention point when it really doesn't need to be. I was just trying to figure out good settling terms, I suppose I need to figure out a better way to plan these things out. rolleye

Tell you what, how's this for a compromise: There's that square of tiles where our spokes intersect, correct? We declare that square a no settle land, and each of us only settles on our parts of the spoke that leads to the intersection. That way, we each get some breathing room to be able to plant a city, and neither of us has to worry about a city popping up right next to our capital. How does that sound to you?
