You know there was a good reason for that, right? We wanted to grab as may wonders as possible for their culture, and at the time the Chichen Itza was the only one left (and it was cheap). And for what it's worth, the defense bonus actually did get used a few times.

Well in the lurker thread before you showed up the lurkers attacked you for building that wonder. I would guess that it would be better to build other stuff so you could start running the culture slider up faster. So you think the lurkers are wrong about this one?
