You don't do any work when you're in the office, just roll map scripts until you find one that fits 22 x 22. Or learn to read python scripting and dive through the map scripts yourself. :neenernee

Tip: open the .py files with notepad.

I'm guessing Tiny would be the right size?

Yeah that is what was advertized.

It is exactly the same size as PBEM 34.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Thanks. I've been rolling maps all morning, until the last three hours. I'll check that thread.

As far as passwords, there is one but I don't recall changing it (or even know how to, really). I just hit enter and go into the save.

That means you didn't set a password.

*facepalm*

I didn't know you had to. I've never started one of these before, so ease up some. Or, since you're asking for it:

More moving workers around, hit enter. Discovered desert Gold and dry plains Wheat to the south, two tiles of little note to the north. EoT last turn borders popped and revealed a bit more:

Certainly some good sites nearby. I think the tundra hill on the river SW of the gold is a good option. Hill for safety, city would pay for itself with the gold, and would grab a lot of tiles. I want to see what's north of the silver, next for comparison.

33/34 on hunting, mining is next. Worker due in 5.

I really will stop all these double-triple posts one day. Maybe. Anyway, it occurs to me that I've gone as far away from my city center tile as I should for now with at least one of my warrior-soon-to-be-quechas. A 22x22 map means that I've covered already over 1/3 of the width and 1/2 the height of the map. Should be meeting people soon, or they could be meeting me, at home, with a defenseless city. I've never played a map this small before so I'm still trying to grasp meeting someone so early. I think I need to keep one warrior near my corn since that's my first target and I don't want to encourage a steal, so I think I'll take my southern warrior SE one more turn then hightail it back toward the city, scouting nearby.

The gold tile won't be worthwhile working for a long time IMO. I like the PH to the west by fish and cows.
