I was wrong about the number of possible combinations with seven points. There are many.

It probably says something about my current situation that my best playing time appears to be around 13h30 local. (I'm also in EDT, so right now that's 17h30 UTC.) I do not know how long that will persist, though.

Point buy is good by me if we wanna do it. I have no thoughts on valuation because my ideas of what constitute "overpowered" are bizarre, variable, and occasionally at odds with RB. (I chalk that up to a mixture of arrogance, naiveté, and inexperience. wink )

So, what I've got then is something like this;

Hydra - 0230 GMT
Azza - 1200 GMT
Visqi - 1730 GMT
Fintourist - 2100 GMT

Does that look right? Once we have Sareln's preferred slot, we'll be able to get a turn order. Are we going to use the Vets' pick order of whoever rolls as being first in the turn order is last for both rounds of picking? It seems we're happy using Seven's proposal, but I'm not sure that increasing the points to 6 is a good idea. It'd allow EXP + India/Inca, and FIN + Vikings/Dutch, which I suspect were deliberately prevented. If everyone's ok with 6 I won't mind, but I think 5 points is better balanced.

5 points is okay for me as well. Just thought that 6 points would make us do something different than the vets, whose picks give an idea of good combos + we greenies would have chance to use slightly better pairings.

Is this a correct to-do list?

1. Determine point allotment
2. Finish up time-slotting
3. Determine turn order
4. Determine pick order
5. Pick
6. All other settings are assumed to be as in the vets' game, right? So no barbs, no tech trading, special blockade rules, etc.
7. ???
8. Start the game!

Seems about right. Pick order and turn order are the same thing if we go with what the vets did (reverse turn order), so the only thing that'll take much time would be picking (unless someone has a strong opposition to something).
