Down the road its a monster city 1W, but I think that its even more important to get that food online ASAP. If we can spare it this city can double as settler/worker pump betweem military builds and take the pressure off of the capital to build workers/settlers.

With this much food and production, it'll allow other cities to focus on commerce. It's just going to rocekt'll rocket up to happy cap of 9 or whatever.

Only downside is that it steals more of Lakefish's tiles, but I think that that's acceptable.

E-E-E-E-N of Cow-Clams-Corn is my new favourite Moai location. A couple of forests + borrow the cows for some production and it might be produced in semi-reasoanble time.

W-W-W-W of Cow-Clams-Corn for a reasonble commercial site down the road? Allows either Block-Joey
site.

#3. Cow-Clams-Corn
#4. Commerce
#5. Block Joey
#6. Repositioned Channel City for ivory.
Lower priority? Horses/Marble/lakeFish

Man, we're stretching. This might be too aggressive, but it'll be awesome if it works. Serious settler/worker/archer spam; crash economy; recover.

PS: I need mah lines in mah pics!

yeah, I'm beginning to think corn/clams/cow is better than clams/cow. Awesome food and hammers - can build military or wonders or, basically, anything. and it's pretty easy to get up to speed - keep the forests, mine the hills. Convert to workshops when workshops are useful.

Is your moai site?

I'll grab better pics of that area tonight when I can log in.

Check to Mindy's Moai Milieu.

But we have a bit of a conundrum down the road. Channel city wherever it goes + Mindy's Moai + ClamSilks wherever it goes will be an undefendable front if that's how our border shapes up. However, not having both sides of the lake could expose our capital to boating.

Well this is only true if our opponents can bring a navy into this lake. A city around Productions combined ChannelCity with would eliminate that. We could totally boat anyone that settled on our lake.

Short version: City around Productions before we attempt controlling the other side of the lake.

And Question: How big is the map? How many cities can we expect to get before we're bumping up to our opponent's border.

Some planning pics:

Jungleland (ivory, banana, lots of flat cottageable land)

My thoughts are B1 or B2. Don't know which yet - B1 is harder to boat (only 1 tile to defend and has more lake tiles, B2 gets the fish. Probably that decision gets easy once I sort out what happens with the pig and fish over that way.

The Maybe Moai site in more detail:

I dunno. I'm thinking I kind of like M*A*S*H better than that spot. My thoughts on Moai is that it's a really screwy wonder, in that you want land hammers so you can build it, but then you want water hammers so you get benefit from it. I've taken, in my SP games, to build it in cities I'm going to use to build naval units. M*A*S*H is a strong production site with 8 or 9 coastal tiles.

We'll have to continue to think about it.

Cornflakes border:

I don't particularly have solid plans there - obviously, it is somewhat dependent on cornflakes. we should be able to get at least one more ring out that way and it would be nice if we got two. I don't know if we will or not.

I'm not rejectiing that Moai site, btw. I always have a hard time with Moai, to be honest. Moai's just weird, especially without stone.

More exploration to the west:

Need to look around - now I want to put a city on that hill - it's not boatable by Jowy... though, I can't actually get a boat to that clam, so we'll see.

Turn 65 - more exploration, whipped in the settler. Made the workboat. Found an Impi.

But first - to the West!!

I am quite unsure what I want to do to block off Jowy. The site I picked out first (blue pentagram) is about equidistant between us. he won't like a city there, but i doubt he'll tilt over it.

The other possibility is 2 west (red star), which gets incense and corn and isn't boatable from jowy's capital. but it's 2 tiles closer to Jowy and might well be seen as aggressive. it's also a turn further away from reinforcement and there's no good way to get a workboat to the clam before either the marble or the lakefish site.

I think i need more exploration and thought. And, frankly, I would guess that Jowy's next city goes someone in the yellow rectange, which makes it more complicated (jowy being creative and I'll lose any culture battle)

To the east:

Cornflakes has an exploring Impi, so i guess I'll keep my dog soldier on that side and send an archer south to barb bust.

Things I have to think about:

1) Next tech. I put it on alpha, but I'm wondering if sailing would be better.
2) Get OB with Jowy? It would be worth a reasonable amount to both of us once I get sailing.

I think I'll ask for OB with Jowy and switch my research to sailing...

Mindy? You ok? I presume that you are a big fan of the country music star and not actually her. Hope you are ok, given the news I just read frown

Just a random note: Archers aren't that good, even NA archers.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

No, but they are good at defending cities cheaply. Cheaply being important to a guy with no cheap buildings at all.
