So, to kick discussion off, a 2-civ ancient era start means we can bat up to 4/6 starting techs. Barring seeing the map, the four generally most preferable (and most expensive) are The Wheel, Agriculture, Mining, and Mysticism. There are twelve ways we can get this combo, sorted in no particular order:
China/Arabia
China/Byzantium
Korea/Ottomans
Korea/Sumer
Korea/Egypt
Korea/France
Korea/Babylon
Maya/Ottomans
Maya/Sumer
Maya/Egypt
Maya/France
Maya/Babylon
On that note, today I discovered there is no Agr/Mys Civ, unless I simply missed it.
Anyway, while we certainly need to keep the UU/UB in mind, I think we should make sure we get one of these combos that gives us the four best starting techs right out the gate. Having more beakers at the beginning to get the snowball rolling faster I think is better than a killer UU down the road. There are some pretty good combos in terms of UU/UB listed anyway.
