Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Churchill of Portugal: Gallipoli Part II

Ah, OK that's good to know. I never play the espionage game in SP, it just annoys me. So I'm pretty vague on spy mechanics.

Good thing I'm building two spies right now? smile

Yeah, the system is somewhat unintuitive. Anyway, the logic in espionage being more commerce-effective than straight teching is that you can stack up espionage discounts(shared religion, open borders, etc.). Also, if you can tech up to constitution, jails are the most efficient hammer:modifier building in the game. Of course, humans can weaken this strategy by using counter-espionage missions or closing borders.

Thanks for the primer. I doubt I'll make it to Constitution, that's pretty expensive. The Zulu may close borders after I steal a tech from them, or possibly before I do it. I'm sure they're watching F4 and the espionage screen, they'll see me dumping EPs against them in the upcoming turns. Whether they care to do anything about it while they're fighting against Commodore, who knows. It may be a good thing for them. If I'm trying to steal tech from them I'd consider me less likely to pile on (which is a true statement at the moment).

Definitely worth queueing up a SP game.

Here's the variant:
-Must learn Alphabet immediately after writing
-Once alphabet is known, science slider must remain at 0%

Play your usual difficulty level for a surprisingly easy game.

Yeah, I've never tried it. Sounds like a fun job for this weekend. nod Usually the most spies I build is when I have Sitting Bull for a neighbor. That bastard really likes to poison water supplies so I fortify them in border towns and hope for the best until I can kill him.

New turn up here, not sure if I'll be able to play it this morning. More remote support for an office six time zones away. My brain hurts right now.

So quick poll question for all you guys who park in a parking deck for work. Who annoys you more when you're driving up the deck to park:

  1. Drive Slow Guy who idles through the entire deck, all the way up to the top
  2. Practice Backing In Guy who tries to back in to about three spaces before he can get his compact car to fit into one
  3. Oversize Truck Guy who parks his Silverado in a compact space, usually close to the next ramp up so that it makes an unnecessarily tight corner onto the ramp
  4. Shortcut Guy who goes up the down ramp to pass Slow Guy and everyone else
  5. Stop Sign Guy who stops at every stop sign in the deck when you can obviously roll through it when there's no car coming down the down ramp
  6. Other -- those are just the ones pissing me off lately

If someone knows how to make this a poll in thread (or if that's possible) I'll do it, otherwise this is just post spam bait. But with the game offline right now what else I don't have a lot else to talk about.

BTW, congrats to Sunrise!

Not-disabled guy bugs me most. Parking deck optional.

Also, "new car so I need to park on the line and take 2 spots" guy. Makes me want to pull in close to him, door him*, then pull out and then find another place to park.

*Obviously my car ain't so valuable... maybe I just have paintjob envy?

How did I forget that guy? I guess because the HC parking spaces are low down in the deck they don't cause me as much delay. But if we expand the list this thing can quickly get out of control:
  • No Blinker Guy, because he'd obviously die if he used his blinker
  • Road Rage Guy, who wants to fight you (and may attempt to wreck you) because you hit the brakes hard in front of him on the freeway when it was totally not in your control at all because the guy in front of you hit his brakes hard (true story -- this was from my drive in on Tuesday...Road Rage Guy followed me about three miles up the freeway after the braking incident shouting at me from inside his car and gesticulating wildly. I did an Exit Left Offramp At Last Second From Lane 3 of 6 maneuver to end the chase)
  • Left Lane Guy who is either from the UK/Australia/wherever else the left lane is the slow lane and won't move over
  • This could be a really long list...I'll guess stick to the parking deck!

For the deck, it's Practice Backing In Guy, all the way. Come on. You can park some of these little cars as easily as putting a shopping cart into a corral. On the road, they all bother me, but Slow Guy in the GOOO Lane is the worst. Add negative modifier if said moron is texting or yelling at the kids.
