[No Players] Casual Commentary: 28 Lurkers Later

My quote was from Matrix, it felt fitting, I was not really making a judgement on whether or not it is okay. I've given up on understanding the rules in this particular PB, just enjoying the campaigns and wars and mayhem

To be fair to Grimace, who did the reload, he doesn't know the details of either of the two incidents since he's playing. He saw Dreylin's reload request, saw no one had played in the meantime, and went ahead with it. I saw Fenn's thread, that he was willing to eat the mistake, didn't see any real precedent for offering a reload, so opted not to interject myself into the game (not being the game admin). I'm not sure what these incidents provide as a lesson for the future, but maybe if we want more consistency then we should have a game admin deciding what gets reloaded and what doesn't, and then us guys with access to do the reloads use that as the basis rather than anything else. Or not.

I'm just commenting for the sake of commenting, I don't think anything has to be done about it. People seem to be enjoying the game, so let it be.

Again, as my lurker opinion that isn't worth anything, I think that's completely against the rules. And I can't see how any player would think that's acceptable.

Jowwy, who seemed like he would obviously win his continent, seems to have given up. Why would the loss of the lighthouse completely crush him? I mean, its a nice wonder, but it's not everything.

I think he's just feelin' like "I won the battle but lost the war." He may yet win his continent, but he's still in the bottom half of the scoreboard and way way behind the frontrunner.

I'm going to be putting hammers into catapults, anyway, so no point in unlocking more expensive units just yet anyway. And if I'm going to unlock a new building, why not Forges? Also, no one has built the Colossus, yet. I'm sure someone is working on it, but hey, might as well take a shot at it. I'm working a fair bit of coast/lakes as it is.

Didn't Jowy already build the Colossus?

Think so, yes.

One of the more arcane mechanics to master is the one determining tile visibility, but it's critically important to understand if you want to control information about your unit dispositions. Fenn is needlessly giving advantage to Mardoc and Adrien.

Hey Fenn, see that mountain tile in their borders? Yeah, that mountain you can see--it can see you, too! eek The mountain tile can see over the bare hill just like it isn't there, sees right over the top of it. Yet the forested hill 1E blocks visibility of the lake tile even though it's within the two tile radius of the mountain. In that case the trees on top of the hill block further visibility from the mountain. If he knew the details here I imagine he'd be gathering his units elsewhere, out of sight to protect the element of surprise.

For future reference, this is a handy guide.
