It's why I'm an advocate for pausing if I see the timer getting low.

Suppor extending the timer. Also support pausing if the timer is running low, but if no one catches it - no reloads unless a pause was requested but the game not paused

I have to reverse my support for a reload (although it appears it won't happen anyway) after I logged back in to have a look around, and realized that I had made a mistake when moving my scout the most recent turn (I was in a rush) and a reload would give me an unfair opportunity to prevent that mistake. I'll go into more detail in my spoiler thread but the gist of it is:

I moved my scout 1 tile to see if there was any danger before moving on but went immediately to my other unit/s and sorted them out. I then forgot about the scout and hit the little red button to end turn. I just went back in and saw that my 1 tile move was onto an oasis, so of course that used up all of its movement points, and now it is in range of a barb animal

I also have no problem extending the timer a bit.

Just add a couple hours to tohe timer and be done with it.

Agreed, but there's not always someone paying attention - especially when there's 9+ hrs left on the clock after the last person played.

I'm fine with either extending a couple hours or the occasional pause as needed. I check the forums several times a day and usually can log in for a quick pause if it is needed. Just let us know if you find yourself on the wrong end of the ticking clock.

I'm in favor of doing whatever it takes to avoid this from now on. Let's not be so casual that we don't care if someone hasn't played his turn
