I've updated our locations spreadsheet (linked in post 3) to include England, that HRE said was south of them.
I'm getting a little intrigued by the fact that we have filled up 3 of the horizontal rows but have NOBODY in the row to our north? I am wondering if maybe there are 3 horizontal rows instead of 4? Or maybe they are staggered somehow. Something to noodle on anyways.
Anyways turn rolled so I'm going to jump in if my old computer will hack it.....

Played turn. We beat off a lion and are healing @ 1.1/2 near Exploit.
Southern warrior moved to meet Ottomans.
Continuing on Masonry @ 0% science.
Workers pasturing.
Talked to ruff in game a bit. He thinks the Inca are coming after him. They declined a NAP to T75 saying it was too long. I noted that they just 2 pop whipped something also.
What is with Kalin and athlete trying to go after the Buddhist holy city?!?!?

Oh the other thing I forgot from last night - our NW warrior (Miller Lite?) can see Exploit's capital borders, which is pretty close north of his 2nd city.
So the stone city may be in question

So here is a little demographics puzzle for anyone with some spare time (lurkers? Rowain?) to noodle on.
I had the Incas with 2 size 3 cities. But this past turn, right after the turn rolled, their score decreased by 4 (72 -> 68), which is consistent with a 2 pop whip.
But obviously they can't 2 pop whip a size 3 city.
It can't be 2 1-pop whips, since that would show up separately.
Clearly, my pop figures have to be wrong, but I can't figure out where I could have gone wrong, and still had things add up right (I know the total population from each turn from the avg pop on demographics)
Anyone want to help me noodle on that?

Nice chat with Ilios of DIM / HRE
Quote: DIM: hi
just wanted to give you the heads up we met Ruff
me: cool
we apparently met rome this past turn
DIM: their near you cities?
*they'e
*whatever
me: i think so
DIM: i can't remember if we told you we've met England?
me: i think he has a warrior near one of our cities
yeah - south of you?
DIM: yup
yeah he came from Portugal
which I guess is why Dantski and Mukha kept waiting for them to end their turn
me: oh
i didn't know they were doing that
DIM: yeah Krill told me Rome was moving around Portugal's second city
and not playing nice
French style
me: hmm
DIM: Rome should be to our east I guess
Sent at 10:06 AM on Friday
me: i think to your north, as i understand things
i thought portugal was to your east
DIM: ah
figures though
Portugal Korea Ottomans HRE
me: right that's how i am reading things
DIM: Exploit you Aztec Rome
me: exploit me, aztec, inca, rome i think
DIM: you' ve met Inca?
me: have you confirmed that ottomans are directly to your west?
no but ruff has
DIM: Ottomans are about 12 tiles west
couple of tiles north
me: so have you seen our capital?
DIM: then Rome is to our NE
me: i can't remmber
DIM: yes, nice stones
me: heh
so where is your capital located in relation to the world's center, as ruff likes to put it
DIM: you're about 12-15 tiles NW from Ottomans
so around 25-30 tiles to our NW
you guys going max gold already?
Sent at 10:12 AM on Friday
me: i think krill has put us on for masonry
and then max gold
DIM: ok
Sent at 10:15 AM on Friday
DIM: I'd be much more at ease if Portugal is indeed to our east
makes the front easier to defend
me: yeah
so i'm trying to figure out where everyone's capitals are, so we can get a better idea of the map
if you can give me tile locations of yours
i'll share what i find of everyoens with you when i'm done
DIM: sec
me: no prob - whenever you're next in game
Sent at 10:17 AM on Friday
DIM: we're 15 tiles south, 31 tiles east
i think...
if I can count tiles correctly
me: of ladies night?
DIM: yup
Sent at 10:20 AM on Friday
me: and you said ottomans were about 12 tiles west?
have you seen where their capital is?
or just guessing
DIM: no but they did send us a screenshot
let me see if I can find it
me: cool
DIM: 16 tiles east from us, 3 tiles north
me: east? or west
DIM: oh sorry man
west ofcourse
i keep mixing those two up
me: eh
heh
you're nto the only one
people keep doing that to me
and they settled on T1 too so that's something
DIM: yeah, they moved on a plains hill
me: okay i've got us, egypt, you, korea and ottomans
do you know of anyone else's capitals?
DIM: no
won't be anytime soon
we'll meet Carthage in a couple of turns, but I doubt they'd give me the coordinates of their capital right away
so you guys have any preference for when oracle lands?
me: what do you mean?
DIM: which tech you will be researching
me: oh
i think we'll be saving gold at that point
DIM: yeah sure
me: we'll finish masonry around t59 or so?
i don't think we have a strong preference
guess it depends on where this alliance goes
DIM: true
me: i know our team would be interested in working with you guys as part of kind of an "inner" alliance
or alliance within the alliance
DIM: why would you want that?
me: well 8-10 teams is good for a few things
a) maximum tech coverage
b) making sure the people NOT in the alliance are less than you
but it can get unwieldy fast
so say there are 10 of us
and we kill the rest of us
DIM: i will get unwieldy
me: the rest of the civs i mean
DIM: *it
me: at some point the 10 are going to break up
so it would seem to make sense to try and ensure that you (and us) are on the GOOD side of the breakup
does that make sense?
i think you guys and us are good natural partners
DIM: yeah it does
me: we met early, even though we're geographically far away
so we've had time to build up trust
but we don't have to worry about border tension
and we could share some of the same common enemies / borders
DIM: and you're worried about Krill
me: well of course
i'm sure some folks (possibly you included?) are worried about us
at least from "name recognition"
DIM: about you not really
but I was secretly hoping you're found your second city 4 tiles from our capital
j/k
me: that would be SOME maintenance!
and that city was equidistant between us and the ottomans!!!!!
DIM: the words out of my mouth!
me: (in some manners of speaking)
so obviously you don't have to commit to anything right NOW
but we will want to firm some things up sooner rather than later
DIM: well, I think you'll find us a pretty decent and honest bunch
I'll take up your offer under consideration
me: okay post it in theread get some comments and let us know what ou think
i mean at this point we have no real formal plans or anything
DIM: what are your thoughts on the Ottomans?
me: just more of a general idea / understanding that we want to work together
haven't met them yet
haven't met them yet
DIM: i understand, but you will have border tension
me: really?
DIM: with them i mean
me: well i guess
i have them 15 tiles east and 12 tiles south
DIM: there will be some
me: they're more south of ruff i think
yeah eventually you're right we'll probably border them
DIM: yup
they're pretty decent bunch i think
australian too
me: yeah i don't know any of them
DIM: would you include Ruff in said inner alliance?
me: i think that could make some sense for us
and he seems to be a nice guy
DIM: flank protection
me: exactly
DIM: ok then let's assume it's you, us, Ottomans, Ruff
gives us a solid block
easier to defend
me: yeah
DIM: anyway, like you said, pretty early for all of this
me: right at this point just kind of talking in generalities i guess
but wanted to throw it out there
this is regoarrarr btw
DIM: ilios
me: cool
DIM: gotta run
me: later
DIM: i'll talk this over with my compatriates
cya
I think we had talked about including them in our "inner" alliance, so we talked about that some. Tentativelyl plugging it in as us, HRE, Aztecs, Ottomans.
I am also trying to get folks capital locations to better put out the world map.
I've updated the locations doc with peoples (X,Y) coordinates

Let's clarify with Exploit that we are about to settle the stone site, and get his reaction.

Ruff said that Exploit is (-12, 6) of us, and the stone site is I think (-4, 3) form our capital, so even on crazy Byzantium PB2 rules that's our site

Email from SsS of Rome who has apparently found our borders
Quote:Dear leaders of the DJ Civilization,
Smash the Lion Killer has traveled far through hostile terrain to finally reach what we believe to be your westernmost border. Are you a friendly people or shall we engage in glorious battle?

Fired off a quick reply to Rome
Quote:Hey sssssssssssssss team? We have soooooooooooooooooo on our team as well so it seems like we are destined to be friends!
We're glad to make your acquaintance - we've been trying to meet you with one of our exploring warriors (withi directions provided by Egypt / Portugal) but it sounds like maybe you made it all the way to our lands?
Have you met many other teams? We have met Sumeria, Portugal, Egypt, Aztecs, and HRE I think. If you did meet up with our lands, would you be willing to provide your capital's location from ours? We are trying to get some map info by figuring out where everyone is, and if you're willing, we will send you what we find when we're done.
Understand if you don't want to but a) hopefully the age of rushing is done and b) eventually SOMEONE is going to rat out your capital location, and at least this way you get to know where everyone else's is too :-)
Hope to hear from you soon and PARTY ON!
DJ Civ

I guess when you are AGG Rome you can threaten everyone you meet, but I doubt that's a good strategy long term.
I think we can mention that we are a fellow member of Krill's cartel.
