Wait, really? banghead (You found that by tile hovering?)

I suppose the cow/fish location makes sense to him. The good news is that he may be slow-building a monument right now to get those fishes (he starts with Fishing). Hopefully he doesn't get to size 2 and can whip an axe. He would need 10 hammers in an axe before whipping.

I also ran a test in worldbuilder, with a landlocked capital plus a city to the coast on top of copper, 3 tiles away. It does not share a trade route, even with the Fishing and/or The Wheel technologies. I still don't think Borsche has either of those technologies judging from the list available.

Does this change our rush plan? I guess I need to get down and compute what power he has.

PS: did Borsche revolt to slavery?

OK, I hunkered down and did some analysis of Borsche's power, thanks to this CivFanatics guide. In brief:

1. Warriors give 2000 power (it was 1000 before Beyond the Sword)
2. Every two population points give 1000 power
3. Technologies:

Quote:2000 soldiers – Sailing, Hunting, Mining, Animal Husbandry
4000 soldiers- Wheel, Alphabet, Astronomy, Metal Casting, Compass, Construction, Steel, Radio, Satellites
5000 soldiers- Composites, Stealth
6000 soldiers- Mathematics, Chemistry, Combustion, Archery
8000 soldiers- Guilds, Fission, Flight, Bronze Working, Machinery, Assembly Line
10000 soldiers- Horseback Riding, Iron Working, Artillery, Industrialism, Rocketry, Advanced Flight, Laser
12000 soldiers- Gunpowder, Rifling, Military Science

Relevant screenshots in the following turn "dumps":
Turn 27 (2920 BC)
Turn 33 (2680 BC)

Recall our power progression:

1. Starts with 2000 from Hunting (Agriculture doesn't contribute any)
2. T8, +2000 from Mining (4000 total)
3. T18, +1000 from growing to size 2 overall (5000 total)
4. T23, +8000 from BW (13000 total)
5. T25, +2000 from our first warrior (15000 total)
6. T28, +2000 from our second warrior (17000 total)
7. T31, +4000 from The Wheel (21000 total)
8. T32, +1000 from growing to size 4 overall (22000 total)

This is reflected in the turn 33 demographics gsorel posted, which have us at 22000 soldiers, ranked fourth.

Now here is my estimated progression for Borsche.

1. Starts with 2000 from Mining (Fishing doesn't contribute any)
2. T17, +1000 from growing to size 2 overall (3000 total)
3. T18, +2000 from Hunting AND +2000 from a warrior (7000 total)
4. T32, +1000 from growing to size 4 overall AND +8000 from Bronze Working AND +2000 from a warrior (18000 total)

The turn 32 chart for Borsche is tough to follow because he has multiple increases at this time. However, judging from the turn 33 demographics, I am reasonably confident he has two warriors now. Here's an annotated version of the power graph.

What do you think gsorel? My only confusion is that on turn 32 we should have gotten +1000 from being at size 4 overall (size 3 capital, size 1 second city) but perhaps that is infused with "The Wheel" giving one +5000 spike? The spike we have at the end looks like it's only +4000 so there's a chance the power doesn't get updated until next turn, perhaps because we had to found a city to get that fourth population? Either way, I think we're even with Borsche except we have +4000 due to The Wheel.

I agree that he has two warriors - he built the second growing to size 3 - i'll draw a picture of a proposed attack plan when I get a chance. basically,

t35 impi A moves to silk S of copper
t36 impi B moves to cow, if spotted or if Borscherooni revolts to slavery impi A moves S-SE to threaten copper city otherwise joins on cow
t37 advance, possibly attack copper city esp. if whipped this turn
t38 attack Carthage

thoughts always appreciated

TURN 34

OK - if you have input on the micro for third city, TODAY IS THE DAY. Otherwise, T35 we overflow in to an axe, research AH after fishing, and settle the Gawdzak deer.

RE: Borschemon
I was afraid he would chop in to his copper city but he did finish pasturing the cow this turn. I assume he borrowed the grain from his mirrored start and will grow to size 2 on T36. I now plan to road the silk and hit this city with two impi on T37. Hopefully we can use Borsche's own copper against him.

That's it.

I don't have input on the third city, but just to be clear, we don't actually settle on top of that deer -- it's on top of the silk? If I remember, your previous plan called for whip overflow into a settler but I agree, with Gawdzak and us at war we might need an axe.

I agree on attacking Borsche's second city rather than the capital, and doing that on turn 37. If we keep playing after him, he won't get the chance to whip until it's too late. And hopefully the city grows to size 2 as we want to keep it. I hope he's building a monument (he starts with Fishing). Perhaps he views the Gawdzak/us war as a real one (which thankfully it's not, so far). You can road the silk south of the second city and I assume our impis can move two south, and then one more southeast.

Otherwise:

- Yes, AH after Fishing.
- Build a settler at size 4 in the capital, after finishing the axe? The axe serves as the defender on that silk site? Or grow to size 5, not sure what would be faster. That settler could be 2-pop whipped.
- Regarding The Shootist, any thoughts on just building another impi after the one we have, if we lose one along the way? Previously your plan called for an ikhada after the current impi finishes.
- After the road on The Shootist's silk, both workers can improve its sheep.

I'M SETTLING ON TOP OF THE DEER, DMOC, YOU CAN'T STOP ME!
jk, the plan is definitely to settle on the silk wink

I thought we might two pop whip the settler since we'll need to grow to finish the axe anyway. I'm open to building another impi - after a workboat? Yes, the workers chop next turn, then road, then finish the pasture on T37.

Settling on the deer is always the way to go!
