From Exploit
Quote:Hi DJ Civ,

The Wood Scouts of Tech are merely scouting nearby tiles similar to Miller Lite. The Wood Scouts will be heading north away from your border shortly.

Boundary Discussion: Tech intends to settle a city 3 tiles northwest of the stone tile near Bison Pass. As long as there is no cultural overlap of big fat crosses between civs then Tech is content with DJ Civ claiming the stone tile. This would mean that the flood plain tile south of the stone (allowing DJ Civ to claim the wine to the west as well), the grassland tile southeast of the stone or the forest tile east of the stone would all be acceptable to Tech as tiles for DJ Civ to settle a city and establish our boundaries peacefully. Do one of these three tiles meet DJ Civ's requirements?

NAP: I would like to propose an indefinite NAP with a 10 turn cooldown period. Basically either side would only need to provide 10 turns notice that potential hostilities may break out. NAP would prevent allowing third parties to travel through lands to attack either party. The Tech Peddler business plan includes the trade of mercenary units therefore the NAP would not prevent either party from supplying troops to third parties even if they are at war with the second party. Of course, Tech would be willing to trade mercenary troops with DJ Civ as well.

Open Borders: Tech will have the ability to Open Borders next turn. If we can come to an agreement on the boundaries above and a NAP then Tech is willing to Open Borders and to expedite building a road network through Bison Pass so that we may both profit from an early foreign trade bonus.

Regards,
Exploit

Settling on the stone gives 2 turns of overlap. Do we want to tell him we're settling there (nicely), or do we want to settle (literally!) for the floodplain 1S of the stone. It's a worse place (we lose a hill though we get the quarry), and we lose a floodplain

And an email from Rome

Quote:Dear DJ,

Smash the Lion Killer is currently located 18 tiles east of Sandograd, standing on top of a hill 2NW of the warrior Gin and Tonic. Is this information precise enough for your map makers?

May I be blunt and ask you what your relations are like with Cath Bruig and Tech? Seeing as we share two common neighbours, without really being in a position to threaten each others, my assumption is that it is as much in your interest as in ours to keep an eye on them. Feel free to correct me if my assumption is incorrect.
Exploit has kept a low profile so far and it seems like he is going to play some sort of "mercenary" role. Cath Bruig, on the other hand, have been working the diplo more frantically but are rather secretive at the same time which honestly have us a bit worried.

Okay - demographics up. @Rowain - thanks for the suggestion. I managed to figure something otu. Still not sure where they got the 4 pop in the city, but I did manage to get the pops all added up.

Krill is #1 in pop now, with a size 5 and 3 city.

Quote:Sandover,

Thanks for the info. By the time I got into the game, one of our warriors had moved. Am I correct in saying that when you said that, your warrior was 1SW of the hill wine tile? That's where he was when I saw it. If so, and that tile SW of the wine is 18E (and on the same latitude N/S?), then that would make your capital at position 25W 1S.

I haven't been paying too much attention to what the different civs are calling themselves, so it took me awhile to figure out who you were talking about :-D, but I think that you are talking about Krill / Egypt and Exploit / Sumeria, right?

Exploit we just met and so we're still trying to figure things out. We did just get an email talking about his being a mercenary tech broker and potentially giving out military units to other civs. That seems like kind of an odd strategy. It seems like it would be better to try and build stronger alliances with civs.

As for Krill, I believe that you guys and us are included in an early tech trading alliance, right? That's how I understand things so hopefully I'm not making a big faux pas here :-D I know what you mean about Krill sometimes being secretive - if you want to try and compare ntoes to see what he's telling different people, that might be a good idea. You know what they say about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer!

DJ Civ

My thought is assuming they reply in the affirmative, then we'll ask them the ETA on IW, as well as possibly asking their help in defending our next city (how about Karaoke Wednesday?)

We definitely need to reply to exploit ASAP

I would tell him politely that we will be settling on the Stone tile itself. Its been in the works for a while now and his proposed locations don't fit well with our dotmap. He can move his city or we can contest the overlapping tiles peacefully via culture.

I'd also say we agree to the NAP as proposed. We won't be making war for some time now.

Workers on are the Pigs and Sheep. I believe we should send the Pig guy to the Horse tile. The other one should go to the Floodplain south of city #3 and Farm it.

You can even see my helpful worker signs in that picture you grabbed lol

1 turn of chop on the tile SE (since it's a free turn), and then pasture the horses.

I think the other worker should start chopping, then farming. Or at least put a turn into a chop if it can't farm right away

Should we talk to Rome about dividing up Sumeria?

I went ahead and moved our units and ended turn. I moved the southern warrior up in case Exploit does not continue with his Warrior. That leaves Happy Hour pretty exposed, maybe it was a dumb idea.

Okay after some discussion with Darrell, I sent the following to Exploit

Quote:Hi Exploit,

Thanks for your note. I'm glad we seem to be heading towards a constructive relationship. A few notes:

Stone site - before we met you and before we saw Bison Pass, our plan had been to settle 1W of the stone. But now that we see the whereabouts of your civ, and in the interest of fostering a good relationship, we are willing to settle on the stone, even though that means we won't be able to work the actual stone tile. If I am counting things correctly, and understand where you were planning on your city, that puts 2 tiles of overlap between our cities? Hopefully that will work for you, or I don't know what the terrain near your city spot looks like if there are alternatives that provide less overlap.

If that is sufficient, we would be happy to sign the NAP as you described it. We're also happy to sign open borders, now that we are able to.

Tech trades - are you planning on Alphabet next? We were planning on heading that way, but I think that you will beat us there. Do you have an approximate ETA for when we might be able to consummate tech trades?

We're also interested in learning more about your troop mercenaries, and how you see that working and what kind of rates you're offering

Hope to hear from you soon and PARTY ON!
