Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

RPB3 SPOILERS Bismarck of India (regoarrarr, darrelljs, sooooo, sunrise089)

From the Aztecs:

Quote:Yes Kyan is Babylon. Unfortuneately with all the diplomacy going around and people renaming their civ so it's not always easy to see who they are Nakor made a mistake is all.

The Aztecs have it right. We are attacking out of the blue without any provocation. Not entirely out of the blue as Ruff figured it was coming. But put yourself in our shoes. Somebody puts the buddhist holy city within your reach and does't want to defend it? This is a strategy game afterall! However it appears others are rallying to his cause, rather than let him fight his own battles. Pity.

One thing I'd like to ask is you have asked us if it was an oversight not to ask you about tech trading. We have reason to believe you're already part of a bloc, probably with the aztecs and did not mention anything to us. What if any of this is true??? If we weren't invited to it, and we are correct then there's another reason other than basic strategy to bring down the Aztecs.

Athlete for Team JANK

I'd say we reply:

Quote:We had a clue you were going to attack as well. The problem is that we were on friendly terms with the Aztecs, and aren't sure how to proceed now that you are at war. We did discuss a tech trading arrangement with them, and could have included you guys in it if you had asked, but now the situation is much more complicated.

First off, the Aztecs were planning on going down the Alphabet path. They had to switch to Archery and are now fighting for their very existence, so we don't know when they are going to be able to get that tech. Exploit is researching it, but he's got a monopoly on it as part of his trader nation strategy.

Are things too far gone between you guys that peace is out of the question? If he is getting help, and you are in a stalemate situation that seems the best for all involved. Make nice, become friends, trade techs, hang out at Ladies Night and drink beer?

Not sure what else to say, or if this is even the correct approach? If they have their pants down maybe we want to kill them now. A lot depends on how many Chariots the Ottomans can produce in a short amount of time.

darrelljs Wrote:Man...reading through that exchange I think we really dorked up the war coordination. Now the Incans suspect the Ottomans are going to enter the war, so they'll tech Hunting and build Spears if they have half a brain. Then we won't have a way of breaking the stalemate. The Ottomans really need to pillage their Copper resource.

Why do we care (besides wanting Ruff to succeed) if teh Incans build Hunting? Or is that it

The Ottomans and Aztecs are in A4...that's the reason smile. If they dork up this war they'll be useless as allies.

This one is fairly obvious. Total commerce city. We have plenty of food surplus to grow like a weed (+7). Whip a Granary, whip a Library, grow into Cottages and the Silver tile. We'll want an Academy here ASAP. If we don't think Monarchy is coming soon, another reason for the Pyramids is to let this city hit size 10 smile.

This is a hybrid city. It has the tiles to be a great Commerce city, but with enough hill tiles to give decent production. The Pig gives sufficient surplus (+5) that we don't need to Farm any Floodplains. We can whip a Granary then work the Pigs, Horse and 4 floodplains cottages, using the whip for early production. Once we get HR either via the Pyramids or Monarchy, we can grow into the rest of the tiles, probably grassland Cottages first, then Mines.

This city is less exciting than the first two. It lacks a food resource and it doesn't have a lot of hills. I see us chopping a Granary, two Chariots, and a Stone based wonder from here. I think we need to Farm two of the floodplains to get a good food surplus, then cottage the fertile tiles. Once we get to size 4/5 we can convert one of the floodplains back to a Cottage.

Yay, a production city. I see us chopping a Granary and Barracks with the Mines (I'd leave the three Forests for Lumbermills), borrowing the Rice to shoot to size seven (sure would be nice to have the Pyramids and HR), then work the Pigs, Copper, Hills and one Grassland Farm. That's 20H/turn.

Draft to exploit
Quote:Hail Tech Peddler of Sumeria and may your parties be raging successes!

Our turnplayer noticed that you declined our open borders request and we were unsure what that meant. Does this mean that our settling of Karaoke Tuesday has caused you to change your mind on connecting to our borders for early foreign trade routes? Or are you wanting to hold off on signing OBs until our NAP negotiations are complete? Or perhaps whipping an army of Vultures to raze Karaoke Tuesday?

As for tech trading, do you have trades lined up for Mysticism or Masonry? We propose a trade of those 2 techs for Writing and an 18 beaker credit, to be redeemed in the future. We're willing to consider alternatives for the 18 beaker credit but it's challenging since it's only 4 hammers if we are reading your flyer correctly, and nobody has currency to give gold. We could probably even have our arm twisted to waive it as a goodwill gesture.

Hope to hear from you soon and PARTY ON!

Draft to Aztecs - added an intro para and took out the part about Exploit researching alpha

Quote:Yes I know what you mean about people renaming civs - Someone the other day was talking about Cath Bruig and I was like "WHO IN THE HECK IS THAT!?!??!" Eventually I figured it out but we're just sticking to civ names - makes things much easier.
