I like both drafts, but would add to the Mayans:

"If you want, we will additionally trade you Hunting for a 20t loan of that chariot, to be repaid either with a new chariot (or other comparable hammer military unit) or gold at an agreed-upon exchange rate. We'll even rename her if you want so nobody has to know it came for you. We will also do our best to help you meet other civs that you haven't met yet (for resource and tech deals as needed)

I don't know if you guys have ever played the basketball-like game of "21" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/21_%28basketball%29. Basically it is usually played with 3 people (or more). 1 person has the ball, and the object for them is to try and score baskets. The other 2 people are supposed to defend and get the ball for themselves. Typically, the best strategy on defense is to let the OTHER guy do most of the defense, while you hang out by the basket and wait to rebound a missed shot. Obviously it's a bit of a prisoner's dilemma thing since if both people do that then the guy with the ball scores easily.

It's in neither of our team's best interests to continue to focus resources on an early war while other teams speed forward teching and building like crazy."

Also for Ruff - I would say he continues on but if he does sign peace, we definitely need to be involved - we can't handle those units heading our way. Maybe we could even get those units gifted to us or ruff? How is JANK liking last place? lol

Yeah it's a real fun game. I'm awful at it because I can't make free throws. frown

But it really is the key to kind of "look like" you're helping guard the guy with the ball while really positioning yourself to get the rebound of a missed shot.

And I think there are a lot of parallels here, on both sides.

Both mails sent. I thought about it and just asked for the Chariot for Hunting straight up and not a loan. It is a pretty good deal really:

Quote:So, no doubt you've seen the flurry of tech trades that just happened. Too bad you couldn't have been a part of it :-P. We are willing to offer you peace for Masonry. TBH, we are highly confident your attack has done all the damage it is going to do, we just want to focus resources on Granaries rather than Horse Archers. Along with peace we want a NAP of 40 turns and a pledge not to gift the Chariot to another civilization. If you want, we will additionally trade you Hunting for that chariot. We'll even rename her if you want so nobody has to know it came for you. We will also do our best to help you meet other civs that you haven't met yet (for resource and tech deals as needed)

PARTY ON!

My free throw percentage is in the low 60s, but I can really rebound. I'm also pretty good at getting other people to play defense for me lol. it is a great analogy, hopefully they realize the truth of it.

Email from Ottomans to us and ruff
Quote:Just for the record, the Incans offered us peace in game but we've not
received any diplomatic messages from them regarding terms or
conditions. Ruff you mention reparations, how would you want payment,
in units? There's not much else of value they can hand you at present
other than a NAP.

We as a team would prefer doing what Darrell has suggested, i.e.
getting peace for 30 or so turns, then coming back with higher tier
units. I will add that including India in the peace treaty may direct
them towards DIM who are their next nearest CAN member, although I
think their forces will be split if they declare peace with Ruff and
chances are they head back into settler spam mode now that the rush
has failed. If we wait a turn or two whilst negotiations take place,
Ruff might be able to eliminate a couple of the units in the area in
any case, reducing the chance that any sizable force can head towards
India.

We'll send a message to the Incans to start negotiations.

Msg from SleepingMoogle, who is from Byzantium

Well nuts. They've shown up with a shock Chariot and I think we can assume they are not friendly. Only silver lining is the Chariot is injured (1.5/4). Also note Bison Pass hit size 3.

draft Reply to Byz

Quote:Well hello there Spectres!

I have to say, our recent dealings with chariots showing up out of the fog to our north hasn't been the greatest, if you know what I mean :-)

So do you indeed come in peace? Or should we expect your chariot to "stop in" as the Mayans did a few turns ago?

As it turns out, we happen to be in the chariot buying business! As you may have heard from the Friendly Kittens / Mayans, we offered to buy their chariot from them. Our offer is a 20 turn NAP and an agreement to not gift the chariot to anyone else in exchange for Masonry, or to purchase your chariot in addition for Hunting as well.

But act now, this is a limited-time offer!
