Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Bacchus and India's many gods

BTW, it appears CS AI has some situational awareness -- Hattusa stopped building it's Library and is now spamming warriors.

Are you dense, Suboptimal?

Why on earth would you be blocking my advance on Hattusa? Why didn't you just cross the river? Every turn I have to fuck around longer here, is a turn these Varus are not saving your ass from a guy with quadruple your milpower.

Truly bizarre. I offered open borders to him, maybe he'll get the hint, or maybe it gets hilariously misinterpreted.

In happier news, the first passive spreads from religion are up:

This is going a bit faster than I thought it would.

Oh yeah, I buy a trader and a missionary, active spreads commencing soon. First Missionary was 105 faith.

Hattusa does something stupid with its units, so I finally declare war.

Varus are insane. First of all, a Varu one-shots a Warrior, using another Varu for a -5 and an archer for a flanking bonus of +4, resulting in a 44 into 20. One-shotting the warrior means that a city-state archer is now adjacent to three Varus, for 0 combat strength. My archer one-shots him. Killed two units at the expense of <15 HP.

I also decide to stop fucking around and Suzerain Zanzibar. This gives me +5 amenities in most cities, making them all ecstatic, as well as +4 gold in my commercial hub.

The road to Glenkichie is being built, the first missionary is trodding along it too. I really like how important roads are in Civ6, and would like again to stress that the movement system does not need changing, even if some of the values need balancing. Glenkichie should be a one-shot conversion, so should Chesapeake. Rowain has another city, Baltimore, which must be towards Arabia, but which I can't see -- it will be converted by the same missionary as Chesapeake. This, together with the eventual natural conversion of Ohio (within range of Stonehenge), gives me America. Another missionary should be enough to sort out Arabia -- one charge on Glenkichie, two charges on Tomatin. The third will proceed, Varu protected, to start making a dent in England. I will definitely need at least the fourth, though, so I should build more builders and do some chops. Everything else can wait.

An apostle appeared in my Capital after the patch. I'm not sure whether this is intended, but who knows, religion screen has changed completely.

If I were to guess, I would say this apostle is compensation for having founded the religion before the patch, and thus not benefitted from the new beliefs (I would have almost certainly picked the new culture from shrines and temples follower belief).

Don't be so modest - you have a bona fide miracle on your hands! Truly, heaven favours India.

Well, this game has become a joke, but what the hell.

I evangelize Church Property for an immediate +6gpt, I am now making 27 a turn. This will soon expand as missionaries arrive in Arabia and 'Murica.

Hattusa should fall next turn -- I have three Varus, an Archer and a Warrior looking at it.

Hattusa is captured, I am now drawn in science with Ichabod, and several points ahead in culture, even before Hattusa repairs its monument in just 2 turns. This is mostly due to the wonders of Zanzibar -- all my cities are ECSTATIC. Which also led me to knock out a bunch of granaries to soak up all that sweet, sweet growth.

Missionaries are well on the way east, will post some screenies next turn. So far there doesn't seem to be much action on the theatre, albeit there is a near-dead US scout. Missionaries have 4 move, so pretty difficult to chase down unless cornered, and now, thanks to the update they don't just die when runover, you have to "pillage" them, which takes these precious MP.

Rowain is going nuts on military, I think he will try to conquer Arabia. Can't blame him, also don't care. I'm pretty set on either bringing this game to a close in 30 turns with religion, or not contesting a win at all. Well, the latter is not really true, but basically I'm making a call to not build settlers at the moment, as I don't plan to get ROI from them in the horizon that I have to win in.

Well, Ichabod took his conquered cities out of occupation, so his economy is going to sky-rocket, I feel validated in pushing for a short term win.

Another option that we have with Rowain is some sort of joint military operation. He has seen my varus and my missionaries so he must have at least an idea of my future movements. I would gladly help him conquer some stuff off Ichabod, and then we have a game.
