Not at all, should keep my theorycrafting, reporting and planning more frequent and more honest.

I'm gonna general lurk this game, Archduke, but since no other players will see this until the game is over, know that I'm rooting for you this time, mate. Good luck!

So let us go through the basics.

First of all civ choices. Those were made awfully quick by everyone and without any pre-analysis in each respective thread.

Emperor K: Arabia, Egypt, Norway, Polish
Suboptimal: Greece (Gorgo), America, Khmer, Australian
Alhambram: China, Sumeria, Nubia, Persian
TheArchduke: Russia, England, Indonesian, Macedonian

My choice: Macedon

Awww, what an awful pick. I think Russia or even England would have been a slightly superior choice then Macedonia, as I fear Macedonia is quite a one trick pony. Early and quick aggression supported by a GG is the name of the game.

But. I just played England in PBEM #4 and Russia in a duel with Cornflakes. Indonesia is very powerful on a waterbased map, so with all other three choices eliminated Macedonia was left for me.

So what bonuses does Alexander have.

The first line is the most important one. No war weariness from cities. You still incur the wrath of your populace for loosing tons of units, but every bit helps. My minus to amenities crept as high as -5 in PBEM #4. Healing thanks to world wonders is a very SP kinda trait, not something you can or will plan around in a MP game. Hellenistic fusion is a rather nice boost to the would be conqueror, we will see how much benefits we can wring from that.
The two units is where Macedonia shines. Both the Hypaspist and the Hetairon are really nice choices, especially since they replace the two main weapons of Classical warfare, the Warrior and the Horseman. Especially the Hetairoi are nasty customers augmented by a GG and generating GG points.

Couple that with the encampment special building this means that with Macedonia BW is priority and encampments are really a synergy with your Civ. I plan and will play a highly aggressive game right from the onset. We will build 2 or 3 cities at the most and build up a sizeable warrior force and then go for 5-6 hetairoi and wreck someone´s day.
If Geography allows we will go for the jugular of one of our neighbors.

Speaking of Neighbors.

Alhambram playing as Persia

Alhambram is a dangerous opponent. Careful, meticulous and highly aggressive if the situation calls for it, he will be high on my list of worries. Especially with his decent unit and surprise war advantage. I am confident that he will dow another civ just for the movement bonus it provides as early as possible. If we are neighbors I might be better of to declare war immediately upon contact. A good choice and one I would have loved to have. Economically bonuses galore, trade routes, unique building.

Suboptimal as Australia

Suboptimal has yet to impress me, but he is a newbie and considering my performance in PBEM #1 with his in PBEM #3 I would be a fool to underestimate him. Australia or Khmer is a tough choice. Australia however is the builders dream. You get punished for dowing them by enhancing their production by a ridiculous 100%. Also Appeal enhances district yields. I think I still would have taken Khmer instead of Australia, but Suboptimal probably does not want to go for another religious civilization after PBEM #3. If he is our neighbor we will need overwhelming force. Unrushable in the ancient area imo and a tough cookie in classical.

Emperor K as Poland

The polish bonuses are very mediocre. I like the Hussar a bit but the thing that stands out is the Wildcard policy they have at the start of the game like Greece. The Wildcard policy basically means that if they aim for the first GG, it will be theirs. This is bad. I can only hope Emperor K goes for the religious route using his wildcard for a GProphet or something else. The culture bombs by fort could be something nasty in the lategame. I get that he wanted to a do DL civ, but I would go for Arabia or even Egypt before going for Poland.

Naming Scheme

As we are going to be the evil guy and aggressor, I opted for the Final Empire out of the Mistborn series. This means our capital will be called

Luthadel

Then we continue either with:

Kredik Shaw
Terris
Urteau
Fadrex City

or we could with

Cointshot
Lurker
Smoker
Augur

Not sure yet.

On the plus side, it seems that your game with Alexander will be decided relatively quickly one way or the other - you'll either conquer or die in the first 100 turns. :D No long grueling war of attrition like PBEM4 this time!

What a funny civ, all about the Ancient/Classical rush.

Their units are geared towards such yes. But Hellenistic fusion and the basilakoi paides remain relevant throughout, if anything they just get better. The later units yield much more science than the early ones through the BP, and by that time you have hammers to spare to build them just for the tech boost alone. The boosts you net from hellenism are also worth more as you get later in the game and tech becomes more expensive and eurekas becomes more obscure

Oh, hey, I just caught this! I thought of Mistborn when I saw your thread title, and this naming scheme makes me even more of a fan. I vote you go with the actual cities from the series - if you run low on names, you can pull from the sequel series, too, or branch out into other Sanderson works.
