Well this is an extremely unstable situation.

That has got to be a candidate for quote of the month.
It looks like Charriu and Elkad are locked into a death fight over Schilda/Forza. Charriu does have a UU that is a very good counter to those dangerous Praetorians so I can`t see Rome making much progress. But Elkad probably should attack someone soon. Maybe Magic Science could be a good target? He`s got too few cities to stay competitive long term.

I don't know, the game offered me the option. There was another of Charriu's chariots next to it, so I took that option. At that point, I was sure I was on my way out, so I wanted to deny spoils to Charriu. Do you think that was a mistake? (Referring to Hollybombay's "Wow" comment.)

Oh, I think that was perfectly fair, you couldn't hold it. I guess you never had any culture in the poor city? Only way I'd imagine you'd get the raze option.

to understand how powerfull are traits we need to see that the balance was created in 2 ways: nerfing some traits(like financial with is from my point of view same level with pro fr5om bts now, exp lost grranaries, Cre lost 66% on libraris) and others gain big advantages and here is pro ,cha , and philo.
Cre was top 4 along org ,exp, fin and remained there becasue of the small lose, org is there and pro practicaly the old exp.And there is alot of sinergy between cre and pro so my point of view is the stronger combination with ORG/pro coming next(oh but wait there is no such think). So right now i think CRe/pro is more dominant in rtr then was Pacal in Bts.
The other traits are fine as well here but none can offer the start and the snowball Cre/pro is.
Sorry, Mackoti. I just missed your post at the time. I did not intentionally ignore you.

Terrible rolls against animals and RFS's warrior beelining to his desired second city site aren't going to help him avoid last place here.
Still a lot to learn.

Oh my god. Had I known back then how huge this was going to become. Now I feel even more sorry for him.

I can't help it. Must be my bad upbringing.

The map is hungrier, but I think that's not the reason; every single player has been involved in at least one stupid war that resulted in zero profit. Also, the map's size screwed players up, as every one of them crashed down to single-digit gold income before Alphabet or Currency.
The map size definitely screwed me up. I still try to get the maintenance formula right in spreadsheet, but never figured out where my mistake was.

This really is a crazy game with so many resources popping up.
First Coeurva/Elkad popped a silver.
Later he got another iron
and now Shallow popped gold.
Has this ever happened before?

Well, this game is getting interesting. It looks to me like Superdeath was a bit impatient with that attack on shallow_thought. Surely, waiting for Rifles/Cavalry would have been better? I mean, upgrading all those Knights to Cuirassiers does give a very small window to make progress but Superdeath seemingly offered peace after razing Evil End. Weird.
Elkad would be bitterly disappointed if the others make peace so quickly. And he can`t keep up in the long run with the two bigger civs. My bet is that lots and lots of Persian/Zulu Cuirassiers will crush him.

This game has been very entertaining for the lurkers. It looks like MS razed The Flash this turn. Losing a size 19 city with the Great Lighthouse is going to hurt Superdeath a bit. He seems very confident about his chances of winning (and he`s definitely in the lead) but he has look out for a 3 vs 1 dogpile in the coming turns. Imo Shallow_thought should have taken the peace treaty with Superdeath asap and teched to Rifles with Wealth builds. As it is ST still has a chance but he needs to get more than his fair share of Elkad`s lands. Elkad is probably out of the running now. Oh, and MS should get some credit for stubbornly defending and retreating to his wonderful astro islands and now harassing Superdeath. Let`s see if Rifles and Cavalry can secure the victory for Superdeath.

I agree. Although Shallow has talked about concession, we should give them some more turns. A SD victory is not absolutely secure right now.

It feels odd to step in now, when the game still looks at least vaguely competitive, but Magic obviously can't win, Elkad is aware he's out of the running, and SD is willing to concede to shallow, who is getting fatigued, so... should someone tell the players that it's fine to call the game for shallow thought?
