I can see how it appears weak, but that was really only be a temporary set back. This was just before we pick up our silver again for happiness, draft unhappiness wearing off (lost all our luxuries at the same time which caused unhappiness) and former Commodore cities coming out of revolt. It would not take long for that graph to swing back up.
Well, i guess we conceded because we didn't think anyone else was really in it, and took the decisions to not join us against Rusten as a sign that people were checked out. But we incorrectly took it as common knowledge people knew Rusten was in the driver seat.
We didn't offer peace for the same reason we didn't try an economic path: we concluded that would let Rusten build up better than us and that we would just be farther behind later. The initial turns weren't well reported but there were some critical early fights that went against us and we were on the back foot after that. I also checked out a bit around here due to some RL issues so Commodore will have to fill in any questions about the actual playing of the war turns.

You still had more population and more land than Rusten. Even after all your losses. Those were the numbers I relied on, against that background all your military setbacks seemed like a temporary fluke. But yeah, I never had a full appreciation of how bad your military situation really is.
Just to have some concrete numbers, how many friga you had at the end of war? I think we had somewhere around 60 and were rolling SoL at full speed. In any case our power was 500K over Commodicator and cap was widening, so we felt that things were going really well. Spotting that galleon stack was important, if that would have hitted our core from fog this would have been a different game.
We actually tried to sink that whole stack but 1 turn before we could have attacked it you retreated, I guess you saw some frigates that we had in place. I think you played really good game ( especially climbing out of that econ hole, I think you were better of with FP than MoM) and your thread is as good as always, and you should give this combination new chance! Just wanted to say, that I love this map. Did you make that, Commodore?

Replying to the thread above the CY thing was highly deceptive. In the immediate time frame we only had about 40 frigates to their 60. But with Military Science online? That is, by the way , a 15 turn tech for us right now. There was definitely a window to win but it was fifty turns ago.
