I'll stop posting these. I'm sure they're boring to read. Have I made my point? Despite being gifted an entire continent's worth of free luxuries, Superdeath would not be in this game if not for the unceasing divine intervention of Sid Meier.
Let me show you why this wearies me.
There's a lone spear in Scylla's. I spent some time thinking what to do with it. This is the "after" pic. I chose to keep the spear unpromoted and attack out at 95% odds. This let me promote twice after that combat, so the spear is almost full health and C2, Formation. Now none of those horses is likely to get a hit in. One has a 43% chance of hitting once. Another has a 40% chance. The last I didn't bother calculating. (That's a lie. 8%) Unless one of the first attackers does truly incredible damage, Scylla's holds. I'm annoyed because I spend my time thinking through this stuff when I could be sniffing glue or any other activity that's more worthwhile, given what we've seen.
It looks like the southern spear is out of position, but he can get back. We take AdolfTwitler for a third time next turn. (That's on me. I should have kept a samurai rather than a spear in place. I also forgot/didn't realize that city wouldn't give SD any anarchy.) The spear defending Kyoto doesn't have the promotions necessary to fight off all three horse archers, so that city likely falls. Remember when Superdeath won that 21% battle and I said that was likely the difference between losing two cities and three?
Ho ho ho.
I sent Cairo a fish for fish. Hopefully the message behind it is clear. "Dear God, I'm so tired of fighting. Please, please don't attack me with your rocket crossbows." Cairo burned what I assume was the Hindu holy city. I have incredible respect for any tempest of carnage I'm not on the receiving end of.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.
