[NO PLAYERS] The WW46 Lurker Thread

I'm just trying to tread water watching these posts fly by, but this caught my eye:

The odd formatting and turn of phrase makes me think there's some subtext here but I can't figure out what. As for CMF's post, that's a lot of words spilled on Lewwyn. The "biggest flaw" paragraph makes me think that CMF is a wolf - why not spill a lot of words (as Lewwyn) about Gaspar even "if he knew Gaspar would shortly be outed as town"? CMF is a wordsmith (his blogs and game reports make this evident) but it seems like he's trying to hide a lack of reasoning behind lots of words. That also makes me wonder if Lewwyn is actually a wolf. Alternative theory - Lewwyn is the suspected vigilante and needs to play both sides to stay alive as long as possible.
Sending units to their death since 2017.
Don't do what I did: PBEM 3 - Arabia , PBEM 6 - Australia This worked well enough: PBEM 10 - Aztecs Gamus Interruptus: PBEM 14 - Indonesia Gathering Storm Meanderings: PBEM 15 - Gorgo You Say Pítati, I Say Potato: PBEM 17 - Nubia The Last of the Summer Wine: PBEM 18 - Eleanor/England Rhymin' Simon: PBEM 20 - Indonesia (Team w/ China)
CMF's big ol' block of text really didn't look much different to me from the standard "here's a brief summation of what I think of everyone!" post that several players have produced, except perhaps a little better written and seemingly more earnest than most.
I think the village is in trouble, though. They have an unusually rich amount of intelligence from the Day 1 vote and three night kills, and people are wasting time inveighing against each other's tones... in a game where half of the players lie constantly. Since they are focusing on tone, though (or at least letting wolves steer the conversation that way), Lewwyn's rapport with GKC rings false to me, and Commodore is saying absolutely nothing with his posts. I don't like the villages's odds right now if a large proportion of Lew, GKC, Commodore, and someone easily forgotten / overlooked like SD, Serdoa, or Rowain are scum, especially with them being down two rather strong power roles. They'd better hope their vig (?) wasn't a one-shot. A bullet is technically a "cast iron ball". Kind of pretentious, if so. Just say what you mean.
I think you severely underrate tone, Bob. That's what got me Cyneheard. Hell, I even mostly recognized your tone as being you rather than wolf you once you got pissed off. I think tone reads are totally valid if you're good at it. They're obviously better when combined with data but early game, you have minimal data and also oddly, speaking as someone who has wolfed a lot, data is as easy to manipulate as tone.
Anyway, I would be unwilling to vote for anyone other than scooter or CMF based on what I've seen so far today. Meiz gets the strongest town read from me, ignoring meta issues. Serdoa gets a reasonable town lean as well. Everyone else, well... I'm always suspicious of everyone.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
I really like Meiz's play so far. He's so good at pushing people without being overly aggressive.

You're probably right, plus I'm not great at telling the difference between different tones from the same person when going by text. TBH, if not for the screen names I'd be hard pressed to tell who wrote any given post on RB, barring someone with a particularly distinct voice like MJW or Mack. Sunrise/Mardoc, Lew/Thoth, scooter/pin, the assorted perpetually annoyed Eastern Europeans; lot of people here have similar writing styles. Actually, if there weren't obvious context clues I'd likely be unable to tell the difference between posts you and I had written several years ago.
I plugged in my writing style into analyzer once and all it said is that I avoid dependent clauses. Instead, I start a new sentence and use a connecting word like "so", "but" or "however". I'm sure you Bob could come up with more writing-style features.

Depending on how things shake out you might get some extra spoiler knowledge, so you'd have to be ok with that and keep it to yourself. |
Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis |
