Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[PB84 Mjmd] Bounding Main

Lets do some catch up.

My Bonnie lies over the ocean - honestly its amazing I haven't done this one before. Its a classic.

I almost wonder if Civac went back and read my PB75 thread. Even if you are leading and my rival there is an interest rate that I find hard to turn down. He sent two. I pinged the first one to Scooter, but he wasn't around, but I wasn't that tempted. But this:

To be fair I didn't know this was the turn he bulbed theology. He then launched a GA, so I'm assuming he wanted something 1 turn earlier. Probably monarchy. Its possible it was worthwhile for both of us. Not sure how bad his happy problems were, but if they were like mine he might have gotten some of his gold back by getting 1 turn earlier, but probably down some still. I got 40 free gold and he was down some amount for his GA.

Bing settled a city 1 turn too early. Just wait for your workers to be able to farm. And see city song is about.

My Bonnie will be interesting comparison to Ocean Liner. Both a 4f seafood and both had lots of forests. Both got granaries chopped. My Bonnie got 2 dedicated workers and got its lighthouse chopped, but Ocean Liners had to whip because its workers got divided.

Tarkeel getting mids netted me 183 gold. Talked to Scooter about going serious with it after SD got Oracle, but as noted I decided those workers should go to supporting all the HG cities. Also as noted finished barracks and built a spear. Do I wish I had more gold, but down a spear. Yes. Do I want an additional spear still. Even as #1 power, also yes.

Current turn T108

Got CoL in Man O war, which was the most likely place. Don't plan on shrining so its ok being in a production city I can spread from.

The wonder I am going serious on is The Colossus. I noticed that SD did not get MC with his Oracle. He probably got math???? Mostly me talking to myself discussion on if I should build in Roll call fast or Capital Ship a bit slower. I was pretty sure going for capital and then realized the workers I wanted were slightly more ahead than I remembered. Will mean I have to do the painful work coasts instead of cottage thing. As org I could justify slow cottage 2 ish times I've gotten, but financial I probably should work the coast. If GLH stays out there eventually my workers will get down to chop and mine Roll calls western forested hill. It was probably a stupid build as it doesn't have a modifier.

Reusing Marching Inland

BECAUSE I used my GE to build MoM there. Not planned, but I also finished Colossus this turn.

Elsewhere I'm doing final round of whips before golden age, which will probably be in 8 turns. I have a ? near some whips. Rolling up down I'm pretty sure should keep growing. Old Maui is interesting. Do I want forge up for GA or just work more Moai tiles. It would make a better mandatory screenshot. Also, probably a keep growing, but curious on Scooter thoughts.

Most of my workers are to the north. Financial Colossus means there isn't much point to workers for coastal cities. Now I am still higher on cottages than most even still, but short on workers and using 4 of them on marching inland for all those jungle tiles.

So Scooter and I had a conversation on what was best for snowballing. Immediate Calendar or CoL. It was honestly a bit confusing and I think we were arguing for the same thing? Went CoL first as I knew I had MoM in the bag unless someone had a heck of a plan.

So does a fast ish engineer mean America is still busted as I thought? Well, I'm forced to conclude America is now only very good. The engineer was a turn late! I mean it was a long walk. But seriously having played America in multiplayer before I can tell its quite a difference. I do still think its very good.

Oh shoot you noticed I forgot to protect my worker against barbs!

I also forgot for a turn that I have great wall.

What happened to the visual effect of the Great Wall?

For reasons I can't remember Great Wall never shows up. IF you roll the turn the turn you build it you do get to see it for 1 turn.

More curious is that I can't see Colossus. That one does normally show. But I appear to be getting the benefits so whatever. Wonder if its buried in the hill.

I think the Great Wall visual is permanent if you roll the turn when it is completed. At least I remember intentionally playing last to roll the turn so that I would get the graphics.

Repeat song from PB66 Northwest passage. This is a good version.

I was debating waiting on my golden age for a turn or two for more pop plus more missionaries. BUT ya decided to fire it off. But due to this weird thing called turn pace it I fired it off this morning in my morning turn and then double played a night turn WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!!!!  lol

Did Tarkeel let the AI place his cities this game? I feel like this is an AI game where the AI is just jamming cities in because resources are around. Sent him fish for fish but he didn't respond. This caused me to delay the iron and I had to stay in slavery vs serfdom just to be cautious. If he wasn't aggressive I might still have, but grrrrrr. That is hundreds of research probably until I find a city to build some units, but I have missionaries to build!. I mean its only probably 14 commerce a turn, but its going to be a second. All for a city I have a descent chance of culture flipping and whose only food is a sugar it has to steal. I believe he could even see my tech as I was going for culture producing wonders! I might have more thoughts on how he should have settled once he messed up and let the slowest expander Xist beat him to the goody area.

Side story. I have a 7 year old son and when I play morning turns on weekends he likes to come watch (as does my 6 year old who likes the animals especially the whales). 7 year old was around the turn I settled the 5 cities. So he was around this weekend and told me I should do more. I had to explain to him there was only one spot left. I didn't mention that it was an awful border, but I did briefly try to explain to him how bad the general area was. I mean worse for me as I would have no food, but still.

I do wonder what everyone else's plan is this game. I feel like its play every turn mechanically. Tarkeel has mids plus shrine. But we keep forgetting to nerf AP. I always figure people can just not be idiots. If your opponent techs Theology early you just secretly start building up military in your build queues and then you kill them as they started wasting hundreds of production on a long term gain. While you spent hundreds of production on an army to kill them. Or you can let them just build up an great production and gnp engine and they will kill you...... This for some reason seems to happen most games (I can only remember 1 example of it getting punished in last like 20 games; PB65 I believe). I'm mainly disappointed in SD. That border should have set him off ages ago and he is aggressive Sumeria. I get his combo has some long term potential as well, but read the game. SD has a combo that can do either. The flexibility is a strength, but you have to be willing to use it! Xist just had such a slow start I doubt he had an option. This is a long way of saying I'm 1 production ahead of Civac in a GA and this is basically a 2.5 person game.

How much of his food lead is his land vs pop is interesting. I did go with more good cities vs many. Maybe a mistake. Some of it was just shape of land as well. Maybe eventually after I scout more will do more analysis on.

But ya main advantage is teching and MoM so have to push that edge. Going for the 24 turn GA and SHOULD be getting the great artist. I did go greedy by also getting drama, but as I've 1 turned the entire top section and no one had any of them (the turns I checked) I SHOULD be safe. I also would like 3 man MoM GA fairly fast which is partially an explanation for the Parthenon along with its culture. I also am higher on Parthenon than most mainly as I think it reads "have a 3rd GA / 2nd GA much sooner". I'm trying to figure out of the Great Library is a problem assuming I get. It will push Capital ahead of man o war, but that may be a good thing. Day of the clipper after producing this GAs GP is going to be getting the next GP to pair with free artist. Then it also with some chance of overlap has to be involved in the 3rd GA so might fail. If it does get an overlapping great person Marching Inlands artist should be unique, but it may be later than I wish.

Mandatory fin Colossus Moai city screenshot. Forge just finished; glad I decided not to whip it.
