Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

Civac and the Last Pitboss

Best is definitly a fun player to watch. Even though he's definitly a macro beast it's always it's an excellent micro as well to be able to maneuver large armies that effectively especially when you look at other high level Protoss players

I know it's definitly a big loss if Mjmd snipes it from us but isn't a GE pretty far away still? Although it could be sped up if he's willing to flip it... Which now that I'm thinking about is probably fine for him since if he misses he can either start a GA or build an Academy at his cap. So yeah good call on getting the extra hammers over food.

I know we complete Paper next turn and I was thinking of IW+Calendar afterwards just because I can see a lot of players already have both so they are pretty cheap and would be excellent return on investments. I'm curious on your thoughts on after that though. We do have a large MFG lead thanks to the Apo buildings so we could look to gear up for a war with Xist after getting knights but he can get pikes before we can start that kind of war so even though we could almost certainly win it would be pretty bloody and we would have SD to worry about on our border.

There's also another option of just being more builder focuses and just going for Literature and a run for the GL and even if we miss GL getting a NE city would be pretty important anyways because there's more GP shennigans we could. There's probably another play where we look to start another GA + bulb education for a standard lib -> nationalism slingshot and shoot for Taj and afterwards revolt into more wartime civics and stay there for presumably the rest of the game? Since it is King of the Hill it feels like things will probably be permanently hot after that since at that point in the tech tree capturing the barb city just isn't that high of a price anymore.

But to do that we need 3 more GP for that and a NE would help a lot with it.

I am nearly always paranoid about that kind of thing. Not entirely sure it's warranted. Mjmd has the USAmerican library which produces one typeless GPP. You can let it run for a while and then whip a forge and employ an engineer to get a 100% GE with a lot of the GPP supplied by the library. Mjmd also has caught the Apo religion so UoS is strong for him same at it is for us. However, I thought the passive library GPP was two per turn instead of one. With one GPP it's not so easy to reach 200 even he build the library fairly early. Moreover, mjmd needs to feed GP into Mausoleum before it is obsoleted by Nationalism so him rushing Sankore via GE is not that likely even if he has one.

I agree about the cheap techs. We also want Metal Casting (which is also cheap in CTH). It's difficult to win the game in any way on this map. Attacking xist could be an option. Initially, I thought of building the strongest economy possible and see what happens. That's not a strategy though. If we want to attack a neighbour knights may be a bit early.

Three GPP are rather difficult to obtain. I have planned building NE in Boxer but that is still a while off and without Caste System it's not possible to focus on specific GP. You just have to run various specialists and wait to see what the slot machine gives you. We could try to make two GP, start a GA and run a lot of scientists with Caste and Pacifism. My guess is that we would be late to Liberalism though. I initially thought the game was going to be a build-off throughtout. But I'm not so sure anymore.

Anyway, current plan is to collecting a bunch of cheap techs (IW, Calendar, MC, (Construction, HBR), Aesthetic, Literature) and then consider the matter anew.

Mjmd spawned a scientist which on the previous turn which he burned for his first GA. Switch into Buddhism, Organised Religion and Hereditary Rule. University of Sankore should be fairly safe then.

Speaking of Sankore

we switched into Bureaucracy on the last turn at the cost of a turn of anarchy. There is iron on the plains hill south of Last which I didn't know about. Thus we are getting IW first and can run more food than I thought.

With Bureaucracy bonus and researching a well known tech we are competitive with mjmd's GA economy though possibly he has finished a tech this turn and consequently there is no arrow bonus shown in his gnp number.
