Downloads and links

One of our goals is to provide an extensive database of MoM resources across the web, including both links to web sites (even dead ones, which can be resurrected with archive sites) and downloadable stuff. You will be able to find it all in this thread, as soon as we manage to put it up smile

I'll be keeping this thread clean, but please put any requests and suggestions here and I'll delete them after they've been carried out.

Hey Catwalk,

Just checking up on Master of Magic after many months. Dragonsword disappeared and I joined a rock band (new songs at http://www.myspace.com/schlechtj) so priorities changed. Lucky to have found this place but I will not be here often. A file you should add to the downloads is what I think is the BEST save game editor (try it out). I have it hosted on my mediafire account here is the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?jjzliqyyn1m

Also I have seen complaints about my editors with bugs and what not. There is a file at the end of this page called hacking.zip or something like that. It contains old versions of my editors with bugs so that may be a source of the problems. You may think about deleting it or better yet updating it.

I was planning on doing one more editor before dragonsword dropped off the face of the earth. This would be a miscellaneous game properties editor that could change ... whatever from wall the bonus to whatever. These I was going to pick out from whatever locations Kyrub has discovered. Looks like I like serena has some new info also. If I could get my hands on new locations I could make an editor for that kind of stuff. Better yet if these locations are posted in the eljay file repositories. I was also going to add spell save modifiers to the spell editor but again that info evaporated with ds.

I know sometimes this information is closely guarded but I believe that the more stuff that is editable and the more people think about game balance or fun the better off the community is. Thats why I sometimes spend long hours on these editors when I could just let people fend for themselves on hex editors. There are lots of people with good ideas that just don't have that skill and I want to make it easier for them.

Perhaps you could plea my case to kyrub and serena..... I know you for one would like to see that and It looks like I am the only one who is going to do it. Using the source code for my unit editor as a template makes the job a lot easier - almost plug and play... ONCE the locations are known.

Thanks for listening!

Hey, Dragonsword's forum is back up, after a year of inactivity!
See http://www.dragonsword.com. Flash started it. Without him, there would be no Insecticide, no Catnip, no ILSe's editor and probably no MoM forum at Realms beyond Orion.

A lot of interesting info and discussion can be read in these forums. I reccomend "Strategy and gameplay" section. I also wrote quite a lot about Insecticide and about the internal game proceedings in the appropriate section. Catnip and Miscellaneous projects store large portions of important mod data/discussion as well.

Thanks, Flash!

Wow, has it really been two years? Great to see that it's up, much useful information there indeed. Thanks for the tip.

One. duh
I live in a near-light-speed hurry, so my being probably sucks twice as much time from the same period.

Good to hear that dragonsword is back. However, I think we should stick to realmsbeyond now. In order to preempt the horrible possibility of splitting our fans into 2 groups, maybe we should encourage everyone to post only here in the future. A lot of duplications and missed opportunities could be saved. Perhaps, someone could announce there to not continue MOM discussions there, but that area could become a backup server for this just in case this server goes down in the future.

If Flash wishes to put in the energy to rebuild a community there, he will likely have some measure of success with that. I won't be posting there again (don't want to have to check up on two forums), but I don't think we'll need to make any kind of announcement about it.

I'm staying here, for sure, RBO is a shelter for my analytic activity.
Although I can understand anybody who'd want to compare his unique games, to compare unit's strength or chat about book settings to use dragonsword. The forums there have better structure for such "light" kind of activity. It's nice to have a dedicated web for MoM.

On the other hand, I've seen what splitted community can do to a game, with Alpha Centauri and its numerous, half dormant forums. I agree to focus the more serious development / discussion on one website, preferably here.
