Its time for me to get something off my chest.

Twinkletoes89 has been my pseudonym for the last few years. I had everyone fooled with my play in the many RB games I have played, thinking I was some noob who knew little about the game and was easy to beat.

Now it is time for me to reveal my true identity.

My real name.... is Dan Quayle

I had to get paint loaded up to best express my thoughts.

Here is what I think are the best options for me with the land that I can see right now.

I like the capital site as it has 2 food resources plus 2 sugars (one of which could be farmed for another 4 food tile)

Plenty of grasslands to farm.

Enough hills for some production, along with some forests for me to chop out infrastructure.

On a hill for extra defence.

------

City Two gives me up to 12 grasslands which can be farmed (only some of them need Civil Service) along with grass corn to give me plenty of food again for specialists.

4 Hills plus copper tile to give plenty of production - possibly a good early fast worker farm.

Secures me metal early doors for defensive protection.

Only 3 tiles from capital so easily defensible.

---------

What do you think guys?

The only quibble I have is with City #2. I would put it on the plains hill. Less overall production, but more early production as you save a forest and get the 2H start of a plains hill. You still are 3 tiles away from the capital and have the additional bonus of defense on a hill. Yes, there are also 3 ocean tiles (which... why are they showing as 3 commerce???) but those won't matter until we're size 19 anyway.

Edit: Also, remember you are going to need to pop borders in City #2 to get the corn online. I would do it right away: swap into caste system on turn 1 and run an artist until borders pop. You won't need to slave anything in the first 5 turns of the game, so there shouldn't be any loss there.

A plantation already gets a grassland sugar tile to 4 food.

I would move your starting units a little differently. Sending the scout 1SW should reveal more tiles. Sending the archer near the copper 1SW will reveal one new tile, as opposed to none the way you have him headed now.

Like T-Hawk said, just build a plantation for both sugars. You'll want an extra to trade to Kuro.

Edit: Also, city 2 should probably be the capital instead. It will get more out of the palace culture.

I don't like putting City Two on the plains hill as the extra hammer will be less useful than an ancient start and those water tiles will be nigh on useless without a lighthouse.

Keeping it where it is will give me more useful tiles to work specialists which will be extra crucial if I switch that to being my capital.

I want to move the northern archer onto the copper as I am banking on seeing over the water. Even if I just see water, I get a better idea on how big that water is.

Don't see any problem with your city spots as shown. Whats your argument for having the capital as the SE city?

I mainly put that as capital, thinking that with the greater amount of food available it would benefit more from being the capital for GP production.

Looking at it again, the other city is most likely better as although it has a bit less food, it will have more hammers which could be maximised by Bureaucracy to build wonders/national epic/infrastructure while still having enough food for specialists, as well as benefitting more from the palace culture

Absolutely nothing of persuasive use found in the fog by my scouting to make me change plans.

Will settle planned cities next turn. Fast worker is already chopping for a worker in the capital.
