Tasunke tries to figure out how to play MP on Realms Beyond! :) SPOILERS

A crackle of Chaos, against the Norm;
By Twist of Fate;
I exit the Gate;
oh Doomed world whose fire's swirl;
how I wish to initiate,
into the pit of lust and pain,
whose foolish gods amicably create;
while the lord of pain, sees fate preordained;
Who am I to prophesize?
Only ...
a clown king,
Lurking loathefully,
with no crown, but an enchanted ring
when I bring doom
send foes to gloom
a manic smirk breaks across my form.

Alright then. I will try to make screenshots ... but no promises :D

As this is my introductory game into Realms Beyond, I'll do my best to not piss anyone off or get shitlisted XD

With that out of the way ... bribes for everyone!!! (especially Mist shhh )

Go team Ellimist/Tasunke! smile

Alright then, statement of business. Well, I haven't played PBEM's before, and I haven't played on Realms Beyond before, but I understand that it is very important to abide by OOG deals.

Well, in this game its just AI diplo ... so abiding by the rules for this game will be to simply NOT conduct OOG diplo of any kind.

I am personally glad its not full CTON, and I have no problem with AI diplo. I've never been "given" a civ to play before, except in a couple unofficial RP games.

Im very, VERY bad at playing BTS, and not much better at FFH2 quite honestly, so let us see what we shall do.

I can't really do any planning, since the map is made from scratch (is it a land based map? probably, but I don't know yet!) And I don't even know what Civ/leader I will have :D

Assuming this were a normal game, where we just picked who we wanted to be (on restricted), Flauros of Calabim and Cardith Lorda of Kuriotates would be pretty popular choices ... as well as one of the two Lanun, one of the three Ljosalphar, and Kandros fir of the Khazad.

Personally I feel that, in a peaceful techish game, Hannah/Falamar of Lanun is probably the best choice. However, with a balanced map made by our bow GLORIOUS MIST bow, and basically an FFA game, probably any civ (other than Sidar) would be competitive.

As far as leaders go, Any non agnostic civ stuck with Cassiel is going to be shitting himself when he realizes he cannot adopt any religions EVEN WHEN NOT GRIGORI, because he has a -100 adoption rate for all religions, which even a human cannot break.

Thinking of changing it to -99 in my mod, but his Fin/Phi ability must certainly be pheared, so not sure. It would probably prevent frustration in some leader/civ combos though.

Personally, I think Enion Logos of the Grigori woudl be pretty cool smile

You get adventurer army that can be supplemented by the armies of the other civs, plus its still philosophical, which is probably a must have for Grigori adventurers.

Or Cardith Lorda of the Sheaim ... I'd like to see how the Sheaim might flourish with such a strong leader ^^

I'm in the same timezone as you(Atlanta, GA), so that should be fine.

And BtW, don't worry about this method of civ selection. We used it for FFH-9, and the mapmaker made sure all picks were viable. I was Charadon and it was quite fun.

hmm, so now what exactly do we do with this? I havent a clue! XD

I guess we do some Pyre Zombies? Maybe try to be ready to capitalize on whatever traits come our way?

High level mages are probably a viable plan. We can build them whenever we have arcane and occasionally we'll get charismatic as well. The Sheaim archmages are pretty good.

I wonder if everybody is Perpentach of _____. That would be interesting.

(here are my original ideas for the Sheaim, in my original conversation with Ellimist) Thought it might be fun to at least post this, since I can't do much else for the game unfortunately frown ... dead computer and all

Well, planar gates are too expensive. So we probably shouldn't build those unless we are the leader in hammers.

I like Pyre Zombies. Especially with either; cats, assassins, or both.

maybe just assassins with 2 move PZs, but while we still have 1 move PZs left, cats might be useful? just a thought. Might be too many hammers into something that is one move (for the offensive, anyways).

still, if we find a strong civ to be in the roster (and how will we find that out? either in the Tech thread [which I doubt], or I guess just exploring ...)

I mean, it probably won't be a problem if the starts are even, but Kuriotates, Lanun, and Elves tend to have major advantages (Kurios and Lanun moreso early game)

So we should probably dedicated pyre zombie rush at least one person, especailly if that person is Kurios, Lanun, or Elven.

Edit: New Material below

(the only problem with PZ rushing Kuriotates is their high mobility centaurs, which can be bad for a war of attrition against PZs ... namely bad for the PZs)

Still, with 2 move PZs backed by flanking horsemen and drill assassins?? ... I think it could be pulled off smile

especiallly if ritualists were involved XD ... and summons as cannon fodder don't hurt, but using mages isn't exactly a "rush" now is it? XD (except the Spectre rush, which pits late game death-sauce against mid-game technology ... esPECIALLy if Royal Guards and Diseased Corpses are guarding them smile

well, ya only need Diseased Corpse guards until they get Assassins n Shadows, but after that RGs + Corpses are usually preferred. But then again, if your using PZs ... all the protection you need is PZs! :D (well, plus the Royal Guard thing)

Summary:

PZs are great with mobility 1 ... assassins work great with them on the offense, both Cats and Assassins are great on the defense (with PZs) ... and supplementing your PZ + Assassin stack with summoners and/or Horsemen units can help to bridge the gap between PZ uberness and that nasty Mounted enemy mobility.
