In this thread, we can only post compliments hippy.

Sulla, you are literally the best turn player and ship's captain in history, and I'm sad you lost your enthusiasm for this game, but glad you are still involved and posting hatsoff.

scooter, your diplomacy has been a work of art throughout this game, it has been a privilege watching you operate hatsoff.

KJN, ditto for you on the C&D, and kudos for being so dedicated you even did work on your holiday hatsoff.

sunrise089 & NH, thanks for stepping in to some pretty big shoes...have patience with us during the transition and don't worry about hurting our feelings hatsoff.

CFC, you have a real nice set of smileys on your site mischief.

Darrell - This is the nicest thread anyone has ever made in this sub-forum, thanks for making it. twirl

I'm genuinely not sure if this thread is meant seriously or if it's a subtle troll job...

Since we already have a Rant Thread for non-serious discussion, I'm of a mind to delete this one, unless there's a reason for keeping it around.

It's meant seriously.

Darrell, that's the best damning with faint praise I've seen in a long time re: CFC. thumbsup

I like it. even if this gets locked, please don't delete. it'll fall to the bottom with the statistics thread soon enough

Noble, compiments on stepping up as turn player, knowing darn well you're going to take lots of kibitzing.

The thread is serious and I meant every word I said. And accusing someone of potentially being a troll is not a compliment. If you are looking for compliments to make it up to me, I've been told I'm good looking shades.

Seriously though, I was just trying to ease some of the negativity in the other forums with a virtual group hug...the rant thread is for rants and not conducive to this.

Are you kidding? The amount of rage (same thing as joy right?) in the rant thread clearly displays our collective and innate good natures. What could be nicer than that?

On topic, this thread is the best attempt at unnecessarily being nice to other people that we have in this entire subforum.

I'm not so sure it's an unnecessary attempt. There are psychology studies that show that people remember negative things more readily than positive things. The fallout of that is that most people can literally become happier by taking a minute per day to think of something positive that happened, thus causing their brain to remember more positive things to balance out the negative things it naturally remembers. Therefore, this thread is a great public service.

On topic, I'd like to thank the people who put tons of hours into this game behind the scenes, most notably Sullla, Kjn, and Scooter, and more recently NH, plus anybody I've forgotten. There's a reason we're currently in such straits and the reason is that people put in the time and effort to play a better game of Civ IV than anyone else. There's also a reason I'm here rather than elsewhere, and it's because the tradition of RB's reporting makes lurking games around here better than anywhere else by a mile.

Sullla, we have our differences about a few things right now, but you're one of the best combined strategy+micro players I know, one of the best leaders+organizers, and the single best civ turn reporter I've seen. Quite the asset for our team.

Scooter, most impressive is your persistence and positive attitude. I know that contributes a lot to getting us the best deals possible.

KJN, C&D is even more thankless than turnplaying. hatsoff

Noble and Lewwyn, thanks for setting up when Sullla needed a break from turnplaying duties.

Zargon, your posts are few but enjoyable. I appreciate your big-picture focus.

While this is interesting and a nice way to (possibly) help overcome millennia of evolutionary development that helped humans subconsciously identify that life is often and indeed frequently shitty, my point was only that it isn't necessary to be nice to people. I'm not sure if my opinion equates to an evolutionary advantage (unlikely), a social disadvantage (almost certainly), or an undiagnosed sociopathy (can't rule out anything here!), but that's my basis for preferring the venom of the rant thread to bros hugging it out here. But I'm probably trolling more now than darrell was when he started this thread so I'll go post something mean over in the rant thread now. lol
