And we're off, first turn down.
Here's what happened. I got my start. ![]() Unfortunately, nowhere near as good as my start from PBEM 2, but that was to be expected. Decided to look north with my warrior to see if there was any reason not to move onto the ivory. ![]() And desolate lands. So settled on ivory. ![]() This should help me generate a fair bit more commerce in the very early stages of the game, 5 compared to 3. ![]() Demographics. From this, we see 1 other person either settled on a luxury or is working one, and at least 1 person settled on a hill. I think everyone has a full land capital, with the possible exception of Jkaen given his score is lower for some unknown reason. ![]() Uluru, which would be a great target for a 2nd city, is unfortunately right on the border of a city state. So that'll almost certainly claim it before I can get a city there. Hopefully it's at least a religious one so I can grab a pantheon (unfortunately Desert Folklore is banned, which is a right shame with all these floodplains) ![]() Zanzibar didn't appreciate my warrior's exploration through their borders. Serves them right for not being religious, I wanted a pantheon. ![]() That warrior has since wrapped around to the southeast of Coming For You. ![]() Scout in the south west about to pop a hut. ![]() The cap and scout #2. Building a settler here because it's not great land for a worker to improve, I want to try and claim Uluru before Zanzibar, and I'm planning to go Tradition so building the monument isn't a necessity. The warrior will be in a position to escort the settler when he's born in 10 turns.
Western scout got shot from a barbarian camp last turn, next turn he pops a hut.
![]() Northwestern scout popped a hut (+1 pop in Coming For You) and next will wrap back around towards the salt, my likely 3rd city location (distinct lack of different luxuries around here, which pretty much forces me into Tradition) ![]() Warrior will pop the hut in 2 turns. Planned 2nd city is 1E of the Oasis, and then buying Uluru instantly. If Uluru is lost to Zanzibar, I'm not sure what I'll do. Depends heavily on what I find around the salt I suppose. ![]() ![]() Scout was upgraded to an archer. I think this also means I won't pop an upgrade with the spearman, so win-win. To explain the 2nd part of that, I believe that Shosone's Pathfinder follows the exact same rules as regular hut popping. The only difference is the Pathfinder can select which result happens, rather than having it randomly allocated. This makes sense too, since it helps reduce the variance in hut results since one person can't get a run of 3 free techs while another gets nothing but maps and barb encampments. ![]() Warrior will do his job and keep the Archer from being able to capture the settler before founding the city on the tile the warrior currently resides. Hopefully, the warrior will survive next turn, as I'd really rather not lose one of my few military units. ![]() Unfortunately, no luxuries but salt up here. Will still probably be settling on the river hill 1E of the fish for city 3 as it's one of the few unique resources I've found. +happiness seems like it'll be vital from religion and/or pantheon. ![]() Mobile archer is going to heal a bit sitting this side of the river. I'm pretty sure nothing can hit it in 1 turn from it's current location, and he'll be able to retreat if someone gets up in his grill. ![]() Demos are pure arse, but that's no surprise considering I've gone a very early settler.
Now I release to the mother sky, all I have to transmute this delusion. I lost my grip but I have you now, how can this be? I've become my enemy.
