It is I, in the flesh. For a quick introduction, see my rise and fall (I'm set to lose my last city to Gavagai today unless my 50% health archer does very well indeed against six knights) at AlaePB.
I am De Gaulle of Korea. Not quite worth a re-roll, but almost. Although that would be against the spirit of the thing, wouldn't it.
Details to follow...

START
First ring wet corn, which will do. If I SIP it'll be on a plains hill. I can as yet see no compelling reason to leave it. There is plenty of river grass within the BFC. Some sea, including a second-ring fish. There's also a first-ring spice, which I may survive long enough to work but probably not. A second-ring lake. Some forest. It'll do, I think, although I accept that a picture is better than a word picture. I shall work on it... we have sixty hours after all.
Being Korean I start with Mysticism and Mining. What I would normally do is try to smash polytheism immediately, but I am slowly learning that this is not as AWESOME as it might seem. Also I might not win in this particular scenario, and if I did the experience would be decidedly Phyrric. And not that useful - I'm charismatic.
I'm also industrious. Great. Or maybe it is... I should conduct research into the latest incarnation of RB mod. But with this many players going for wonders would be a pretty poor choice anyway. To round off, I can't think of a better tech to start with than agriculture. I'll probably be angling for a pretty damn early BW, too. But do I knock off fishing first?
And as for production, is there a better way to go than worker? Ever?
META
Actually I'll do meta later. But I should start with a cast-iron pledge to actually follow my own advice this time. I should also pay attention to what my neighbours are doing, and not be afraid to go balls out to war AT ANY STAGE. No pussying around this time.
None.

So it seems I actually start with Agriculture and Mining. Which I didn't expect, but it works very well indeed. I've taken my turn now (settling in place, revealing a couple of huts HURRAH. But now I have a dilemma: fishing first, or BW... I'm tempted to go BW, but need to do some vague back-of-envelope micro.

Things I did in Turn II:
i. Found a new hut (the third within visual range, although one is on an island).
ii. Got 43 Gold from said hut (not quite BW, but very nice anyway).
iii. Discovered that the hut site would be a very nice second city (shares the wet corn with the capital, and also has fish and more corn first ring)
iv. Decided to research BW rather than fishing.

Are you happening to follow the tech thread at the moment? I think the game is suspended and will probably re-start after they get civstats alternative up and running. So you'll get second shot at that hut when you repeat the moves I guess

So I'm retaking exactly the same moves, obviously. But would I have done any differently? Probably not. The island hut will be a good city, I think (I was flirting with putting it on the wine, but probably not. We'll see). And one on the hut that I can't see yet but is helpfully labelled 'hut'. I'm still behind my BW choice, but fishing and then sailing look like they're going to be important.

So I got my hut reroll. No tech, alas. Instead I got this:
Interesting.
Barry Lyndon. Hatsheput. Celts.

Who is Barry Lyndon?
Experience: A new member for the game, it seems.
Starting Techs: Hunting, Mysticism
Special Unit: Gallic Warrior
Attributes: Creative/Spiritual
So actually it would seem like quite a sensible plan to tech BW -> Fishing -> Sailing and send a trireme with two axmen over as soon as possible. So unless anything else comes up, this will be at the heart of my opening strategy.
I will need a trireme anyway because I reckon the hut on the island looks like a good city site. City 3 as it stands but possibly City 4. Time will tell. City 2 will be 1E of the corn, sharing the capital's corn and getting a some fish to boot.
My worker, when it's done, will build a farm on the wet corn and, depending on whether I get any metal, mine it or chop out another worker. Or something. let's see...
EDIT: For trireme read galley throughout. Although if I do pursue this strategy triremes will come sooner rather than later.
