PBEM60 Tech Thread (Advanced Start PBEM)

So I have a proposal for a super-duper casual not at all competitive MP lark game. An events/huts/barbs on game of BtS (or RBmod, I guess, but that's adding balance)...advanced to 1AD. With the civilizations being controlled up to that point by Deity AIs. So basically, a little mapmaker civ in a corner hits enter until 1AD and then self-immolates, leaving a map filled with forests and really awful dotmaps. Then we take 'em over.

Clearly, the point of the game is to improve on your own little patch of ripe weed; some people will be handed winnable positions and someone will take over Toku. This sound fun to anyone? I was thinking 4-5 people a PBEM, any more a Pitboss.

Barbs
Random/random leaders
Some absurd map like tectonics.
...but I could easily be swayed another direction. And there is a lot else going on right now, it's fine if nobody else feels like it.

Wow, this sounds really fun honestly, though I doubt I could play but almost fun enough to try.

Personally, I'd go with (random) Unrestricted Leaders. More potential for craziness!

Maybe pick some really good AIs, and some terrible ones. I wouldn't be good enough to play this (Prince player in SP, can't stand MP) but it seems interesting.

What difficulty will the humans play as? Given the Deity maintenance reductions, the least expansive or best economic (FIN leader of Holy Rome, anyone?) civs will be best, as cities the Deity AI could support would be different to those the Monarch human could. Or just best economic humans. Signing up for lurking!

Well, Deity is just the AI's settings until 1AD; we can put the humans at whatever, probably just default Noble given the lack of economy people will take over.

Will watch with interest if this gets started (not a sign up).

With the Deity unit spam you'll probably inherit empires with huge unit costs, might even have to do some mass disbanding. And of course it's a given that you'll be left with a large number of improvements to fix.

Whoever makes the map and advances the game to 1 AD might want to run through a couple of iterations to get something interesting - otherwise some players will probably be on their way out before they start.

This sort of silliness definitely seems like the thing that would be up my alley, though I am not certain if it would be wise to add another MP Civ game to my schedule. But since it doesn't sound like a try hard game.... Sorry, just another "I'm interested, but not a sign-up" post.
