Mizar, I'm glad to have you lurking. I'll update this game better than PB18 (easy promise to make
). Start quality seems to be a bit below RB normal standards. Unless that corn is irrigated I've only 5 and 4 food tiles and that Deer requires AH that is something you normally want to delay quite a bit in RtR games. Well TBS said he has balanced the starts so I shouldn't be handicapped by this. Settling in place seems only logical choice.
Map should be Huge sized Big&Small. An average that should mean quite a bit of expansion room. This should favor late game traits over short term ones. Difficulty level is Monarch. ORG and FIN are providing best late game value so I should pick at least 1 of these. My own experiences and e.g. following what Mackoti has done indicates that hammer economies are dominating RtR games so I've preference for ORG over FIN. Having both ORG/FIN wouldn't be that bad either.
So which ORG leader should it be. I would be happy with most of them so picking a civ before leader is something to consider. Probably only Napoleon (Cha) and Zara (Cre) are totally out. I'll think about civ next. Typical AGR/WHE civs could make sense or something with AGR/HUN, if I feel speeding up AH research makes sense. So Zulus are clearly superior AGR/HUN nation available. Not totally sure they're worth picking in the 1st round though. They would like Agressive leader and I suspect Hammurabi wouldn't be available anymore on the 2nd round. Granted picking some other AGR leader could work ok too.
Concerning AGR/WHE nations preference order would be: Sumeria - France - Babylon - Egypt Of course there are also Inca and India that could be considered because of their nerfed but still useful features. 1st would call for Protective, but that synergy is not totally nescessary. Not sure about this either. There is a risk of not getting any of my preferrable leaders (I haven't played ORG leader for ages so really would like to do that). Zulus are great though so might pick them and then take whatever there is available.
Tough choice between Zulu and Sumeria. In the end decided to take the way more flexible choice. Zulu would have required AGR leader to make sense. Sumeria can work even without ORG.
Pickss at the moment:
Quote: 1. Mackoti-China Seems like I was way of concerning what people would pick. I thought ORG would have much more poplular and Hammurabi taken among the 1st ones. My main Candidates at the moment are Roosevelt(ORG/IND), Asoka(ORG/SPI) and Julius Caesar(ORG/IMP). Current favorite is Roosevelt unless there are more IND leaders picked before my turn. It would be pretty good match for what I plan to do. Main problem is slow start and the fact that I've played quite a bit with IND leader. City spam with Julius or some civic swapping games with Asoka would be pretty much fun so I might change my mind. I probably had to farm that Deer. I won't take early AH since I feel I should try to get religion on my way to Priesthood and probably also take a shot at Oracle. |
