What an abysmal start, perfect for going against MP veterans, I assume. I did not move as with a tiny map I doubt I could spend 3 moves and I can buy the horses for a somehow sane production soon.
Also the districts place themselves in the current setup.
And, yeah I should have moved. A rather bad quest on a mediocre city state, but industrial is imo one of the best city states, close behind the commercial one, especially at the start.

Good luck; here's hoping it'll be a fun game! I'm lurking this one globally, but I figured the least I could do is stop in to support you in the all-important Post Count War.

Thanks RefSteel! As soon as I am on turn 10, I will have a better feel for the surroundings.
They feel awful.

I am significantly more relieved.
A move would have destroyed 2 semi-decent cities with access to possible baths and some ressources.
They are still rather mediocre city sites with way too much water tiles, but you gotta work with what you have.
My 2nd citizen gets switched over form the 2f/1beaker tile over to the Crabs for 1f/3gold.
In my experience 8-9 gold income enables a crucial support buy down some 20 moves resulting in a 2nd settler, my growth is not impacted at the current rate thanks to the food tile.
My preferred tile, the horses will come online on its own by the superior roman culture in 5 turns.
I consider to switch over to Pottery to build the City state supported Granary but I leave it in place. After the Scout I want to build a builder or a settler anyway. (Leaning towards the Builder..)

I would move one tile off coast. Water tiles are week in Civ6. By moving you would get hill tile in first ring for production and be able to plant another 2 cities. It is strong capital what matters in my opinion. Also you can spare of spending beakers in to sea technologies.
Good luck btw, I had to withdraw from this MP due to sickness/work duties, but I will enjoy to be the one that criticize

Depends on how long the game goes.
Basically you are right, the capital is a mediocre city compared to the move, I need to invest time to get production up.
Longterm, the city dotmap coupled with my industrial city state should work out nicely.
I will post a new map today or tomorrow.

Finally something to tell.
I am not a huge fan of overanalysis of worker turns, growth sizes and anything else on a micro level.
Basically I tried to work the crabs for gold, to buy the hills near Rome to get a bit more production. It means getting the worker out about 2 turns earlier.
Also. FIRST CONTACT.
The Doppelganger, the Ursuper, Sulla of Rome was sighted, in Orange.
Hidden behind the Inspiration of Foreign Trade.
It seems he hails from either the southeast or the east, as he continued to scout to the west on the next turn. You can sport a nice Natural Wonder to the east and I actually decide to use 5 turns to get Astrology early and maybe pop down a holy district early. Should actually make sense in a Non-AI game to get a cheap quick religion. Also Hongkong has a quest for a prophet.
The worker should be done and work tiles in time to get the Inspiration for Craftmanship, I will probably get another warrior or a quick settler depending on my further scouting as I will have to stake down some claims against Sullla ASAP, seeing as I can be easily bottled up in my shitty penninsula.
Another priority should be to prevent a scout of Hongkong by Sullla, so I can keep it under my thumb.

Seems like the Aztecs have found a commercial cty state and Sullla has found a culture and a religious one, judging from the output he has right atm.
I will post a new series of maps the next turn.
Nice to have such a big audience like Sullla.

I imagine this works both ways - getting more attention may help motivate players to post more information and such as well - but I think for the most part, audience size is proportional to the frequency of updates (and how much information is presented in an easy-to-understand format in those updates). To the player, it can often seem like nothing is happening on a given turn, but for a lurker, hearing the reasoning behind your moves and seeing what your scout and warrior discovered (even if it's the equivalent of, "Argh, another size 10 Radiated Ultra Poor! Who made this map? And why aren't Irridium Fuel Cells in the Roman tech tree?") can be pretty cool, especially if it's accompanied by speculation about stuff from the game. For instance, your theory about city-states met by other players is great (especially when some of the other players aren't updating their own threads) and stuff like your initial feeling about the land around you would be even cooler if you articulated what made you feel that way and what you might have wanted or expected to see instead.
No idea if those suggestions are actually helpful or not, but at least it's another +1 to your post count, right? I'm definitely still reading with interest when you do have time to post!
