Mardoc is right. I should entitle myself 'Dark Lord'. But what about my Pharaoh title then?
Gotta solve that somehow.

Yeah, it is! You should have a look. Maybe then you'd get the sarcasm when I ask for diplo help.:neenernee
Turn is in. Lets hope for something interesting today.

Turn 29
GES the warrior found the dye Gaspar was referring to a while back.
Still no success in finding Lewwyn by Darrell in the east.
Current ETA on founding the next city is turn 33 I believe. I'm thinking I actually want to build a scout to send north considering I grabbed hunting for the ivory anyway. I also need a warrior as military police in Sandoria if I'm about to grow into max size, so I need to look into my builds going ahead. GES will be busy escorting the settler/guarding the new city for some time I reckon.
The metal casting gambit is initiated. Fortune favours the bold etc. I should be fine so long as no one is sitting on stone itching to build a wonder just for the hell of it.

Quote:Oracle Jobs in Sweden - Accenture Sweden Has Oracle Career
Google ads cracks me up. I don't want a job in Sweden, and what the hell is an "Oracle Career"?
Or this one:
Quote:Want to buy a new scooter?
Quote:Pharaoh Sandover,
Thanks for the heads up on scooter's unit. That should give me plenty of time that I'll know where I am in various races and won't need to obscure anything when scooter arrives. I wonder if he'll suggest dogpiling you in the first message or wait until the second.
Good luck on the early forges. Early Academies are always nice, but since you're Philosophical you can afford to wait a bit and still get one faster than most. Clearly I'll be seeing a prophet before I see anything else with my early build plans, but I can find a site food-rich enough to help me get a scientist before too long.
I may have been a wee bit overzealous on my wonder hording, Stonehenge actually completed this turn. From there on we'll work on some quick expansion whilst doing the Oracle techs. I only sandboxed 10T or so past the current time, so I don't really have a firm plan from there. Will depend a bit on what I find in the east, though surely the build plans will be mostly of the worker and settler variety. Probably try and squeeze Fishing and Sailing in shortly after all that, I think naval exploration might provide useful intel.
Given the positioning, I'd assume one of us will see Lewwyn next, unless he's moved in the other direction. I suppose you're working towards getting your next sites settled while teching Metal Casting for your engineer?
Prophet Gaspar
It wasn't quite 72 hours, but I can't say I felt the difference either. Come on Gaspar, I'm sure you can respond faster than this!
Anyway, not much substantial on this front. Still trying to figure out how to configure 'Dark Lord' into a working title.
Quote:Prophet Gaspar,
Oh, so you're one of those sandoboxers (yeah that just can't be a word can it?). Personally I tend to trust my gut in the early game, as I find that it gets the job done well enough. Researching metal casting is surely a stretch at this point, but I've a feeling it can work on this difficulty, so it probably will. Just don't ask me about an ETA or anything because I'm flying blind here.
I'll definitly keep expanding for as long as my finances can handle it. If the economy isn't crashing I'm doing something wrong! I'm not quite sure how forges are going to provide the magic needed to build it up again once I hit rock bottom, and it's not like I'm going to cottage everything being philosophical, but uncertainty just spices things up imo.
Have you seen anything off the coast then, since you want to explore the seas? I don't recall you mentioning anything such. Are you going for a coastal city next or grabbing those flood plains you told me about? I'd like to get a coastal city of my own up and running but right now I'm leaning towards having all of my first three cities being landlocked.
I should meet Lewwyn in a few turns from now, based purely on scooter's description. Darrell is wading through some jungle on his way east as I write this, so his vision is currently very limited. I'll let you know when he run into something.
Have fun with that stone circle of yours!

Really the only moderately functional form I've found is "Dark Lord Sandover the Pharaoh" (or the reverse "Pharaoh Sandover the Dark Lord"). I feel obliged to stick a comma in there somewhere, but I suspect Dark Lords (and pharaohs too for that matter) likely have a disdain for commas cluttering up their monikers (e.g. "Pharaoh Sandover, The Lord of Darkness").
I would also suggest that those titles would definitely smack of hubris run amok, but likely that would only make you like them even more.

I can't quite decide which one I like more. What's your take on "Sandover, Pharaonic Dark Lord"?
I woke up only to find the save and two emails (Gaspar & Scooter) in my inbox, so lets see if I can muster some updates before breakfast.

Nope, too much interesting stuff going on. Will have to wait until I'm done with the laundry I suppose.

Well paid you say? Maybe I do want an oracle career in Sweden after all...

Turn 30
Darrell found Lewwyn.
I can only see his border through bleed-through. Need to spend one more turn moving before I can contact him.
Looking at the positioning of his horses that has got to be his capital, which means his second city went in another direction. That's good news for me.
The distance between our borders is 13 tiles:
The red line mark tiles that are equidistant. The bananas are clearly on my side of the line, so those are mine.
I tried to guess the locations of his future first-ring cities as best as I can with my current map knowledge. Yeah, those are shots in the dark really.
My dot map is very much tentative. The banana site looks like an awesome GP-farm and future draft camp due to its proximity to other civs, and also has marble in the third ring. Not sure I can actually found a filler for the fish, since scooter is probably going to grab it.
Back at home the workers are done chopping:
Everything according to plan. Working the fp farm rather than the third cottage helped me get the settler out a turn earlier, and will allow me to build a worker in 4 turns rather than 5.
Then I end turn.

4 turns building a worker my ass. That's going to cost me 1 food/turn so long as Sandoria is size 4 our larger.
Stupid game!

Quote:Sandover,
Thanks! He stumbled upon my warrior this turn, so we have officially met in game. By the way, when I looked at the turn and counted, it appears I mis-spoke during our chat. I think I made some comment to the effect of Lewwyn being about 3-4 tiles closer to your warrior (on the turn we met) than I am... That was actually incorrect, and Lewwyn was about as far away as I was. It's not a huge difference, but I was estimating and not looking at the save at the time, and now that I've noticed I was wrong, I figured I'd clarify so you didn't feel mislead by me.
I actually haven't seen any stone yet... I think I saw some marble in the desert to your east, though you may have seen that already with your warrior.
Sorry for the delay in responding to you - I think you know me well enough to know it's not typical... RL circumstances are settling down now, so I should be back in the swing of things shortly.
scooter
Stone not yet located. Great!
Quote:Scooter,
No harm done. I spotted Lewwyn's borders (bleed-through) this turn so I'll be in contact with him soon. You don't happen to know anything new regarding that explorer Serdoa supposedly had heading south?
Yeah, saw the marble. That's what got me thinking there might be stone about as well. And I just found more rice - who would've guessed?
I saw buddhism got founded this turn, but haven't actually looked into the score increases for the last few turns yet (starting to reach the point when it's probably not worth the effort anymore). Was that you or someone else?
Pharaoh Sandover
So yeah, buddhism was indeed founded this turn, and I haven't actually looked at the score increases yet. I suppose it could've been Gaspar and not scooter, since I know Gaspar is on the way to priesthood for the Oracle.
