I believe the Mongols among others were very fond of this tactic. It is much easier to run down a retreating army than force it to fight.

Anyways, I realized I still have 1 spot I could put a HG city. The problem is I have to delay HG by a turn for it. I think that is fine......... The only other person who might both want and has stone is Mig. He built the pyramids though and hoping because ya know its T108 and it hasn't fallen yet. Seems like Mig plus Rusten would have had it on turn like 90 if they had wanted.

Anyways. No more posting for a second. I'll probably post the turn I land HG, but other than that radio silence as to not spook El Grillo too much.

Ok so I double played 110 & 111 because sadly people are on top of playing turns and I have children. Anyone see any issue going to war 113 and taking 2nd half of turn?

I also delayed HG by a turn. You can see why though. I hadn't actually done growth math and I have 3 northern cities all going from 2 pop to 3, which will then be 4 for 2 pop whip. Also, with all my prior whips many of my other cities are also due to grow this turn. I did a quick sim and it does work the way I want which is sweet.

T113 would be the southern front. I can then use the galleys to hopefully move some units up if I want to attack Big Dipper. Sadly I think all the jungle there will be chopped by the time I get there. I'm still a little unsure about northern attack. It looks like Summer Triangle is isolated so I can pick that off later depending how bold I feel. If I'm feeling bold I would raze and resettle Big Dipper 1N of the gems. If SD actually piles on maybe I can keep pushing, but considering SDs military strength, I'm not optimistic. Also, I assume El Grillo has Construction so he can whip out superior elephants. I'm extremely happy this is no score mod btw. Attackers are so disadvantaged in a normal mode and pbspy gives defenders even more of a warning. El Grillo won't see the start my military spike until next turn I believe.

I am mixing in a few horse archers even though they are useless vs his elephants just for initial boosting of stack because again why do I end up with long long long empires? Plus I can use any remaining to go kill the barb city that is still back there! Which I'm hoping El Grillo assumes I'll attack before him up north. I did make a mistake and have a spear in queue behind the elephant in Warcraft 3 prior, it should 100% have been a catapult, but ah well.

Whip count for war so far: 5

If El Grillo isn't declaring war soon, he is playing clock games to stop me from taking the second half of turn. He ended and didn't play. My understanding is attacker gets to choose right?

Anyways if he is declaring war do we have a lurker roll for it?
-Obviously if he is going to attack this turn just say I lost the roll
-If he was going to attack later say I won the roll.
-If same turn roll

Looks like El Grillo is having a rough personal life at the moment.  alright No idea on the game mechanic. What's the natural normal turn split that the game seems to work the best in?

Ya I kind of gathered that from his PB56 thread tile. I wish he wasn't my neighbor as obviously he helped me out in PB52.

I've only played the 1 recent turn before him in a long time. Most of the time he has played before me naturally. He could have double played this turn, but chose not to (although he could have real life issues that prevented; I don't know).

I see El Grillo posting. He played PB56. If he really wants it that badly I'm not sure I care enough to hold this up......

I got a lot of flack for PMing Pin that I was going to declare war in a couple turns in PB52 and claiming second half of turn. I was then told by literally everyone that I should just play clock games and let this stupid situation evolve where one person isn't willing to play. I'm still new to this whole multiplayer thing, but my way seems much better.

Someone just tell me to play and I'll play I guess. My understanding was attacker gets to choose, but whatever. It isn't the end of the world.

If someone told me that you and Grillo are both playing clock games, I'm much more likely to believe that you're the one doing it.

If there is contention on who gets which half, you should follow the previous turn order. So you should play first this turn. Attacker chooses is not a rule and the actual rule is to minimize friction. That is why if there is contention you just follow the previous turn's order, which means nobody gets double moved and there is maximum aggregate fairness.

Literally the reason we are in this situation is that I DIDN'T play clock games T110 & T111. El Grillo then very specifically didn't do the same thing T111 & T112. I choose to double play a turn TO NOT PLAY CLOCK GAMES. El Grillo then DIDN'T double play a turn T111 and T112.

If anyone else thinks I'm wrong, state it. I'll play and take 1st half next turn.
