Welcome - I'm sure we can find you a recruit slot up front real soon yikes

Its got some really nice tables - research tree, weapons tables (you see why no-one uses the plasma rifle compared to heavy plasma etc) and even what to manufacture for best cash return.

Actually we already did (we should maintain a death list)

We only have 5 soldiers ready for action, and I do not like the odds against a large. frown We have 4 additional soldiers due in about 1.5 days, the new tank a while after that. I am thinking of trying to shoot down the large UFO, and hope it will stay grounded long enough for the new recruits to arrive so we can send an assault team. I don't know if we can afford to wait for the tank, but 9 should be enough if we can avoid significant bad luck.

Any suggestions or ideas?

I can't remember if attacking a large will put our craft in danger with the limited weapons we have now. If we can do it without taking damage, or at least only damage on one craft, it isn't a terrible idea to shoot it down. If we had more troops, I'd say we should wait for it to land but I don't like the 5 vs. Large odds any more than you do. In short, I'll go with whatever you decide as the turn player except letting two craft get damaged.

They did make a phone version a while back. It wasn't updated, just ported. I think it was for Windows Mobile but I can't remember. Definitely none for the iPhone, though. cry

Does shooting a large craft down make for an easier ground mission than waiting for it to land?

When you shoot it down, there is a random amount of damage done to the craft (I don't know the exact formula/factors). It can result in the death of a portion of the aliens. It also usually destroys the Elerium which is a bummer. Fighting landed craft is better for collecting resources. When shooting down, you get points for shooting the craft down and for the fight itself which is nice. Of course, you don't get points for killing any aliens that died in the crash.

Rifle clips (we barely have 1 per rifle, and nothing for reloads or re-equiping after missions; laser rifles in quantity are still a couple fights away), grenades and smoke grenades (same), and a few more Avalanche missiles (if both interceptors fired their full ammo loads, re-equiping would drain our entire stock).

I also started another Living Quarters. I did not start another Research Lab yet, as that would drop us to about $600K reserve cash.

I will write up a trooper list later, when I have some more time to play. Have to decide on names from the forum for our new [STRIKE]meat shields[/STRIKE] recruits. lol

Missed this one between posts.
Large UFO could be a risk - two avalanche launchers could well do it (if you get lucky with the hit%) but they can hold up to 18-20 crew depending on whether it a supply ship, harvester etc. Without better weapons & armour tackling it without a full troop load on Superhuman is asking for trouble. Checkout section 7 of the FAQ link I posted earlier - it breaks down alien ships/missions along with expected numbers

Well spotted. Agree on the death list. Really needs antisocialmunky to edit the title & first post of thread with some links as previously discussed.

Could be a Terror Ship. If you shoot it down, we may not have to do that mission. However... is it moving slowly over the Sahara? If it is moving slowly, it might be a harvester.

Aliens shouldn't have bases in the first month. Might want to check the graphs. If there is a huge spike in Africa, then there might be a base and that's a supply ship. Otherwise, its probably a harvester.
