Hmm, I might be messing something up again, but when I try to do that plan, I get a settler on T40 and worker on T41. I think it's because I can't whip the settler until T39, so maybe I'm doing something wrong in the build queue beforehand. Would you mind telling me when you make before the settler? I thought that was one possibility.
Heading ack to coast with the scout, SD's immediate area is very foresty and hilly so we'd need to 1-turn a bunch which I Hate.

Are you chopping the monument turn 36 before growth? I didn't mention it, but your doing some nice Indian worker shanigans with chops, where your putting 2/3 turns of chops into 1 tile, then going over to another one ect. Then you can move back and chop on the turn needed.
I'll try to put together a dance chart at some point!
As long as you met SD for the known tech bonus, that is fine with me. I also hate moving scouts slowly. You've almost been too lucky with barbs and haven't picked up woody II yet.

Yeah, have been doing pre-chops, I love the dance of fast workers on forests too. It's fun. With that said, I think it's only relevant for 1 turn with this micro, right? Maybe that's where I'm going wrong. Turn-wise, my forests were (finished) chopped T37, T38 and T40.
Hmm, ok, so how many forests are being chopped total here? Chopping 3 (with help from the second worker), I have the settler whipped on T38 (out on T39), and then the worker out on 41, as the overflow from the first 2 chops is not quite enough. The third T40 chop doesn't go into anything specific, so isn't necessary, but we can. Specifically, I'm chopping the forest 1NE, then 2N, then 1N-1NW from the capital tile, with help from pre-chopping and the second worker arrives in time to help with the latter two. I guess I must be missing the optimal way to do it. Could you explain specifically which forests you chop and in what order to get there? I'm sorry about this, I'm so new to micro!!
Also, how much overflow are you getting on the settler-whip. Maybe that's our issue?

I'm sorry, I mis-typed that. Forests chopped T36, 37 and 39.

Its almost 1am, but I believe you need the second worker to pull it off (as 1 worker can only chop 5 times T33-T37). I think I did forest NE, put 2 chops in then move to next. Other worker comes down for the T36 chop on monument. I think this was the 1 opening that required both workers..... I'll do a more detailed plan tomorrow and double check myself.
We can always decide not to use two workers if copper pops at second city ect and just be 1 turn slower on the worker. We will know more in general once we know where copper is / 3rd city.

Hey no worries or rush, I believe you. I just be messing something up I think, but I’m looking forward to the more detailed plan to find out what.
Had been using 2 workers, but maybe incorrectly.
Incidentally, I’m stuck on a way later shift covering for someone, I’ll play the turn in a couple hours but if either of you sees this first and feels like it, I’m sure the others would be grateful. It’s the move to site-> settle double turn

3am baby turn! I just played the one turn. Wasn't going to deprive you of a settling turn. I think we want warrior hanging out 1W of new city just to try to cover things.
Met an assuming eastern neighbor. If this is like PB52 we have a landbridge NE which is unfortunate, especially as they are the old foggies of the Khmer! It looks like they have a longer border with SD though. So if we can find a good defensive city NE we can probably have a peaceful border.
We won vs the lion fyi, but even with the promo you'll probably have to heal there for a sec. Taking wood I promotion I think you'll be safe to move to the forested hill, but you never know if people are going to pop scouts or not.
I totally forgot to check events fyi. I also forgot to double check your espionage spending since we met someone new. I recommend putting EPs into only 1 person until you get to 33 at the start. Do you have a little checklist of things yet? Miguelito if you have one probably helpful.
I like to check events and borders to start the turn. Later double check build queues and what workers should be doing. Try to figure out where you are vulnerable. Move scouting units first.

Thank you very much! I have played the other turn now also.
First things first, shouldn't our scout be able to promote this turn? Or do we need to wait until next turn for some reason? I moved onto the hill to try and spot any of Lewwyn's cities, but we couldn't yet, so I will heal here. I'd like to try and make us as prickly as possible in comparison to SD, and make him look like a juicier target for elephant attacks. Would consider a couple of sub-par but easily defendable cities, as you say. I also think finding out is Lewwyn and co. have more neighbours or not is a mild priority, since the more there are, the less likely we are to be Smashed. With that land-bridge all but confirmed, our start is reminding me more and more of yours in PB52.
Next up, I have not made a checklist, although that does sound like a great idea! Other than espionage and events, I want to start checking the tech screen every turn, since CtH has that cool new feature implemented. Right now, all 3 of our met rivals know BW, and 1 knows the Wheel. Espionage I did change to SD the turn we met him, although we don't have graphs yet. What other things should I be checking to report changes in?
We also have Coffee, our second city! Coffee chosen because it is easily what I drink most other than water (maybe more than water ), and also my favourite from a taste perspective. Here in Melbourne, we have a snobby coffee culture to rival Italy's, so we get started on it young. Myself, I am partial to a good Soy Latte (that's not even hipster here!). Uh.. back on topic. Worker pasturing the new sheep, city stolen the old sheep, all is same as micro so far, although we might be sneaking some extra beakers from other people knowing BW. I will check again tomorrow when it is not midnight.
Finally, I have been vaguely planning to try to make and take a picture of every drink used, mostly as something to do (6 months of lockdown has made me desperate to just Do Things), but it is midnight and I am sure not making a coffee right now. So you will have to believe that my homemade coffee definitely looks like this.

Barb attacked at the beginning of this turn. Barbs move first in the turn order.
You are a trusting soul to move the scout to that hill without woody I and being full health.
I marked a possible plains hill city with a fish in my screenshot that is halfway. I would say even city number 5 (copper, pig floodplains, then that one). Obviously there may be a better spot up there.
Tech path is wheel, fishing, pottery I would think. After that you probably have some decisions.

Oh ok, I didn't know that about barbs in PB.
I'm a sucker very trusting soul! I figure Lewwyn has no real incentive to wipe our scout out right now, since he'd make himself an enemy for no tangible gain. Hopefully I'm right.
Agree on tech path I think, although I need to see how useful fishing is short-term.
The worker is coming out next turn, so a more detailed micro plan would be very useful now, if the offer is still open. I think I'm gonna feel real dumb when you tell me which forests to chop exactly.
