We founded Catfish, which was luckily not delayed by SD's chariot.
The galley is on standby for Trout's borders to pop next turn. If SD has only 1 unit in the city, we might attack it. Maybe. We're not sure whether or not it's worth the bad blood it would cause.
Lazteuq founded Christianity, which means we'll have 4 religions for a 6 player game. I think that's pretty cool, you don't see it too often. GKC got another random Judaism spread a few turns ago, so if we're lucky he'll spread that around too.
T98-99
Superdeath defended his island with an axe and a warrior, so unfortunately we couldn't attack his island. We sent our galley scouting. However, this happened:
Lazteuq also built the Pyramids, and is getting close to becoming a runaway. This also invalidates our planned defensive spot. So naturally, I'm screaming for blood while Vanrober tries to talk me out of it again. This is really not the dynamic I expected this game! I guess I'll keep reporting this situation as it develops, but I think we have a good chance to raze this city if we press for it. We could launch a small attack T101, or a large one T103.
We founded Bream, by the gems. Two workers will immediately begin chopping that jungle down.

That sounds interesting! Perhaps I'll have to get the ol' translate out.
No more cities until currency. They're getting really expensive; no idea how the IMP players are staying afloat. Currency comes T104, because I underestimated the higher city costs. After Currency, we're thinking we'll go for Metal Casting to whip OR forges everywhere, then Code of Laws to do the same with Courthouses, and Calendar for our many luxuries. After that, the world is our oyster!
SD returned our offer of fish-for-fish. I've heard some things which make me trust that basically nil, but it's still better than not exchanging it.
We didn't attack Lazteuq, because Vodka showed up having bad odds. 50% if he brought no new units, and even that wasn't good enough to be worth it. I'm impressed he had enough together to resist, I had been pretty confident it would work.
We founded Pufferfish and Octopus. I wanted to found Pufferfish 1NE, and Catfish 1NW, but that was in the fantasy world of razing Izamal. Pufferfish is much worse now, because Lazteuq will get the rice and it's off the defensive hill. Octopus is a lot more annoying for Mjmd now than it would have been, which also sucks. We're considering sending SD gems for a paltry sum of gold. Maybe even for free. God knows he's likely enough to attack us for no reason, let alone now that we've settled 'towards him' (in the loosest sense. These are Mjmd's gems, not SD's).
We also discovered Currency this turn, and with it our breakeven is about 40%. That's lower than I expected by quite a bit, these two new cities took a toll even with it. We're going to save gold at 20% and research at 80%, to hopefully vaguely disguise our true GNP. In any case, Jowy's is better than ours, so we shouldn't be scaring anyone really. I think he and Lazteuq are pretty clearly doing the best right now, with the other four of us distinctly behind.
Fish
Pufferfish are a lot more likely to kill you from being eaten, rather than stung. They look a lot scarier than the actually are. Just like our attack turned out to be.
Octopus are not technically fish. But they're one of the smartest and most interesting animals of the sea, and I've eaten them as seafood before. How could I resist?
I think getting some more islands for 3gold trade routes will make our gpt better too. So im not that worried, again we are top cities right now, and if everything goes well we plan to have 18 on turn 110 sh. Which is a really decent amount to start teching crazy speed.
At which point I immediately started rejoicing. If the cost of settling Mjmd's gems is an alliance with SD and giving him the gems, that's amazing for us! Long-term it could even lead to a mutually beneficial partition of Mjmd. Even better, we accepted the deal outright, which means the fish-for-fish is public. We don't remotely trust a hidden 'resent' offer from Superdeath, but with a public offer, there's a certain level of accountability that makes this more likely to stick.
We settled our 3rd island of the game, Herring, unlocking our Currency Overseas Trade Routes (well, half. The other half were already +3 foreign from other islands).
I'm, uh, starting to think that Protective might actually be pretty good.
Herring
travel in large schools, and are apparently very oily.
One of the more confusing aspects of English is that most animals have their own "group word":
A school of fish
A pride of lions
A gaggle of geese
A murder of crows
