Turn 075

Commodore has moved his axe and chariot to the plains hill, and we are chopping out the barracks at Breakside.

Next turn we'll be able to whip or chop the spear in Ecliptic. The other is probably going into a granary or another archer.

Back at home we've finished the galley and loaded the settler and archer onto it:

We'll unload the settler first onto the forest tile N of the ivory and then depending on what is spotted will unload the archer on top or move it to gain more sight over the area. But the next city looks like it will be founded either on that forest or 1N of it.

Internationally Commodore is now up to 9 cities. We're still barely ahead in food and population; he has a big advantage in mfg; and we have a good advantage in commerce. He hasn't been building further power so I think the units we see are what we get - the only one we don't have sight on is an axe and an archer or possibly 2. He did build his second galley this turn, but I still have no sight on connected resources so I can't tell where his last 3 cities were planted.

Our Currency burn time is down to 8 turns. It's slightly possible that comes down to 7 with the new city and working more coast/lake tiles, which would be great. Even at 8 turns that puts the total time to finishing at somewhere around 12 turns away.

Turn 076

In the international stage we finally met yuris125! Although I have no idea how; I can't see any units. I'm guessing there's a galley in the fog. And flug got Currency.

Battlefront is pretty stable:

Porter finished the road; the axe on its tile moved into Ecliptic.
Breakside whipped it's axe; we're now up to something like 25 turns of whip anger there. It's working the Cow and the grass hill mine.
Ecliptic had its spear chopped out - and is now working the Corn plus a lake tile.

Commodore is showing no power increases, but with how much our power went up this turn I'm thinking he may build one or two more units soon.

The core:

Amber moved NE to chop that forest.
I whipped the axe at Amnesia for 2 pop; the overflow plus the chop is going to let us finish the monastery next turn. Then Amber's chop is either going into a missionary or a chariot at Leon's. Leon's will build a barracks next most likely, since we have Warmongodore on our bordore.

And we landed on the island!

First move was to drop the settler on the forest; after seeing that was safe the archer then went to the sheep. But we're pretty underwhelmed by what we saw. A city has to go between the sheep or crabs otherwise the crabs gets orphaned. So the ivory city is going to be in the south somewhere.
The galley ended up staying in place: the archer will be picked up next turn, and the settler will either go S-S or S-load into galley if a barb appears. Then the turn after we'll land the archer on the forest SE of the ivory.
We're also whipping the worker in Coalition next turn; it will be able to load up on the galley in 2 turns and start the ivory hook-up process.

Kind of a funky island so far, but I bet there's seafood in the southern peninsula somewhere.

Decided it was time to go for Stonehenge

The worker Porter is going to chop it out. I was hoping we'd be able to revolt into Buddhism next turn, but if we do that then we come just short of finishing Stonehenge in 4 turns. And if we don't get it the gold will be very welcome. Right now we're starting to hurt ourselves with unit costs, up to 8.

Commodore has a worker coming down which could mean Horse Archer shenanigans are incoming, or it could mean he's going to settle. I hope he forgets I have a Woodsman II axe in the area and moves that worker SE next turn...

Monitoring the culture on that grass hill forest, I think Commodore is getting 2 culture a turn. Maybe his barracks has doubled culture? It's every 1000 years, right? So that is plausible. I'm also not the best at seeing buildings in a city, but it looks like he only has barracks and granary.

More overflow and a chop in Amnesia gets us the Monastery:

And here's the rest of the core:

So next turn we can get a chop from Stout, and put that either into the settler or the missionary. Then the turn after another chop is coming in from Amber.

Down south in Leon's the plan is to grow on a library until size 6 and then 3-whip a setter. And a worker was whipped in Coalition with overflow going into a Lighthouse most likely; that worker will board the galley next turn to help hook up that Ivory. I'd like to get another worker out there, so maybe Lager just beelines for it. That happiness is needed.

Speaking of the island...

Thought about risking it and moving the settler S-SE, but we thought with the fog that there was maybe more land than there ended up being. So the archer boarded the galley, and next turn the worker out of Coalition jumps on. The archer then gets dropped off on the forest east of the settler, and there's likely no barbarian 2 east of the settler so the settler will go NE. Then we finally figure out where to plant on t79.

Yeah culture doubles after 1000 years, but it only happens once unless I've missed something all this time.

Turn 079

So I was thinking Commodore was going for Stonehenge on the border just like we were (and at the exact same time), but then I opened this turn and discover he's still teching. Polytheism, 2 turns total to tech. Plus, the forest and the worker are still there and they have been both there for 3 turns now. So he isn't chopping chopping now, and his teching indicates he isn't necessarily going for Stonehenge.

Anyway, we have an island!

And due to some strategic misplanning on my part there will not be a second worker joining; so that ivory is online t84, not t82. Boo.

Finally, we're getting ready for the eventual religion revolt:

This game is officially un-henged!

This means we win the culture war nod

Commodore finished Polytheism.
Flug has picked up Archery.
Wetbandit settled city #6, flug settled city #7.

With Henge coming in we have cities coming online faster thanks to border pops. I'm going to send the missionary just made from Amnesia over to Stormbreaker, which will pop the border sooner and get that fish under culture.

[Image: pbem64%20-%20turn080%20-%20missionary%20galley.jpg]

So now the workboat finishes turn 85 and arrives turn 89 to hook up the fish. Still need the missionary to pop those borders a little earlier than 10 turns out, but if i keep forgetting i won't need that missionary much longer...

So Commodore attacked my Woodsman 2 axe at odds of 0.7% and 44%. He lost the first and won the second. Lucky ass.

I retaliated in a bit of a tilt and attacked his stack on the forested hill. 4.7% - lost with two hits, and then 55% won flawlessly. So I guess we're even now.

We got a missionary to Stormbreaker

I don't think flug likes horses much:
