Ancient age. In this game, we have:
Archers
Chariots
Axes
Spears
Warriors
Quecha
Impi
All of whom are less than 50% on a CG1 archer in a city.
Praets and Keshiks are classical age units. if we get 10 praets calling, we will have serious problems no matter what we have, though I think that suicide shock archers with dog soldiers cleaning up will do a stack of praets in, at little cost to us. As, of course, will a couple of catapults, but pults are a ways away.

Tech tree please.
And would it be worth it to work the mine hill in NYPD Blue until the workboat gets there?

Hold up on the Alphabet. Why do you want this? Spies? Build Reseach? This is a no tech trading game right?
In no tech trading this is the last thing that I normally want in single player. Right now we've got a food deficit relative to the leader (although our 11 point food deficiency puts us in 2nd place?). This is the most important thing that we focus on and I'm not sure how Alphabet helps us there.
Mathematics with the +50% forest chop. There are a lot of forests north of our lake. Putting us within striking distance of Construction and Currency. Chopping out workers/settlers and granaries is what I'd want to do.
For now, none of our seafood is dependent on naval protection. So I think that we can leave Sailing for now.
PS: The forests around NYPD are both a source of production and a security risk. I'd really want to chop them ASAP. Worker,..chop worker,...chop Hanging Gardens? Grows our population,...
Sorry I'm writing this in a rush. Hope it doesn't come off too abrupt.

I thought it was no tech brokering. I'll take a look. We didn't put anything into alpha, though.
Working the hill probably made sense, but I think the boat gets there next turn Lost opportunity - though, I am finacial, so the crab was a 2--0-3 tiles, as opposed to 1-3-0. I dunno.
it's a good point about math.

it is, in fact, no tech brokering. Still, I was doing sailing.
Couple of things:
Commodore has 4 cities:
unsurprising for the imperialistic guy.
Judaism fell:
Demos:
More pics in a few

Last post, I showed Commodore's cities. Now, the others:
Jowy
Azza
Cornflakes:
Top cities:
Civ Overview:
Workers are in red circles, mil in blue boxes. There is somehting very weedy about this... Pictured is a dog soldier, an archer and a warrior...
Capital coming out of revolt:
MASH - my current best and biggest city, building another archer to cover my weed...
And, of course, NYPD blue.
Dunno what to do with the other worker there - maybe more mining, maybe preparing for corn.

It looks like you're at 100% science but you'll run out of funds before you get math. Can I suggest saving gold for a while for the tech discount and flexibility?
We're probably 15-16 turns to math at breakeven? Ok, no Tech Brokering increases the value of Alphabet relative to Math. Both sound good now. I have less of an opinion on that tech choice now.
Anyway, I'm rethinking the Hanging Gardens. It's probably not worth it right now given how few cities we have and how much food. I really want to turn those forests around NYPD into workers and settlers. Worker chops out another worker then have the 2 workers chop out a settler and military.
A more detailed plan:
1. Get worker + 2 settlers out of NYPD through chopping. Then switch to military. Given our military/worker needs, I'm thinking that the granary is a luxary right now. It'll grow fast with or without the granary and then if we work a bunch of grass hill mines, we might not lose too much by not having the granary until later.
2. Settle 1 SW of Pigs. This site is just closer, has 5 forests which may allow a rushed military, more chopped workers/settlers or a second chance at Hanging Gardens. Really, I'm just looking at this as a worker pump while working a bunch of cottages.
3. Settle Red Star Block Joey site. Build nothing but archers there. Second best choice take the Blue pentagram location. Either way, we'll be able to fort to get a workboat in there when necessary.
2 & 3 Can be swapped but #2 first would allow us a rushed military if Joey calls our bluff so its definately safer. On the other hand, we'll be totally screwed if Joey plants on the Blue Pentagram as he could fork the SW-Pigs site or Lake Fish.
With Tech Trading on, the tech rate is going to go very fast. I always play No tech trading in SP and have no experience with MP so I'll probably be full of newb mistakes. Take any advice with a significant grain of salt.
On the Red Star/Blue Star. I think that the Red Star is the better choice for the food and luxary. If we can hold it we're laughing. If Joey does tilt, we'll if we're half prepared it should cost him more hammer wise to take it. Even if he were successful, I think that too much of the wind would be out of his sails to keep pushing forward. Unless Joey has significant land to the North of him, I think it'll be more a question of 'when' not 'if' we'll have to war with him. Given how screwed we are if he takes the Blue pentagram site I think that having a war over the Red Star, on our terms, is the better choice.
What do you think?

Jowy has significant land to his north and west, I'm sure of that, given that ti's a lakes script. What sealing him off does is A) make a chokepoint for war, which is good for us and B) cut him off from known sources of ivory. There's probably more to his west, of course.
yeah - building gold makes sense.
I don't think we are building any more wonders for awhile, espeically not without stone and with an industrious/imperialistic civ on the map. I'd love HG, but it's only a priority after we run out of space to expand, in my mind. I'd like to target MoM and the Great Library, but neither is vital compared to settlers and cottages. And, of course, units to go take the wonders that other people build for us

Ok. Sounds like we're like minded on no HG.
So is that a yes to plan 1.2.3?
I'm thinking that there are 3 points of conflict on our little piece of the map. First being the Joey site. Second the Horse/ original Maoi site. Third being control of both sides of our large lake (we should name it). The #2 point is pretty much ours for the taking once we land the Marble site. Too much tundra for Joey to stomp through unless he truly has awful land. Also, its relatively more important for us than for Joey for the horse, so I suspect and hope that he'll go elsewhere if he can.
So I'm thinking #1 is the priority and I don't think that we can Red Star/Blue Pent him unless we've got a supporting city with production/forest chop support. I think that taking the initiative on this will outweigh delaying the Commerce site.

possibly - I have to think about it some.
I think that we are going to have a few CGII archers, what with the barbarians floating around. A CGII archer on a hill in city is basically invulnerable to attack - add in 20% city defense, and he's defending at 9.45. 2 of them would require at least 4 axes, if not 6, to kill. catapults will change things, of course, but they are aways away.
Oh - we had a turn roll last night, late - I grabbed some pics, but haven't had a chance to post them. One thing of note - a GS was born. I have to assume it was Phil/creative Jowy, so we might have an opportunity - i presume he slowed his expansion for that.
I'm thinking, now, that the next settler goes for the block along with the archer that I have playing with a barb who should have 4 xp pretty soon. it's a reach, but we might well have an opportunity. We will have to see what things look like - if Jowy gets a city in there first, it might be an issue (creative outdoes stonehenge)
