Wither the UI?
This might have gotten solved ... but that map with no UI screams python error somewhere. Looking at the log files should give you the location of the issue. Yeah, definitely a Python error. That it was hollering about the URL makes me think it's something with the RBspy phone-home function screwing up something later in the process.
Turn 75:

Demos are pretty much consistent showing me in second behind Scooter, and a fairly close second.

I have everything to the left of this save Meditation/Priesthood, and Code of Laws is due at EoT (this is where I'm way behind Scooter).

My respectable power is all Scooter-responsive; spears for his horse archer mass, and now a wave of horse archers to counter his Chucklenaughts.

Any questions?

How are you enjoying this setup so far?
Yeah, I'm not happy about my past behaviour either.

How much of that is simply getting off to a quicker start, how much down to the fun of making actual choices within the advanced start system?

From a spectator position, both of those have made the game a lot better.

What would you say you love, and hate about this map. And what would you have me change mapmaker wise in the future?
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. ![[Image: noidea.gif]](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/noidea.gif) In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

The quicker start has been a pure joy; I do enjoy the making actual choices with the advanced start system, although there are parts I didn't enjoy; namely, the Start Techs > all problem is further amplified by the hefty price tag techs carry in advanced start. I wouldn't have picked the dull-as-toast Ottomans were it not for Agri/Wheel, bummer to be so constrained.

The overall size fits spec nicely, and the modifications to the standard wheel are a step in the right direction. I don't love the strategic constraints of the blobs, as discussed. I guess generally a mapmaker tip is to think out how the game will progress and try to avoid "single death unbalances everything" setups like the sole conquest of a blob.
