Looks like Serdoa is trying to manuever his southern army in between Keystone and Esoteric. Will you be OK if that happens?

What's Serdoa's GNP at? Any idea how much the maintenance's effect on his balance sheet is?

Yes, That army must go on to flat land to get in my way at all. The moment it does I kill the whole stack no problem with Cats, HAs and Axes. He doesn't have enough moves to get in my way before I can build or move units to intercept.

No idea yet... When the turn comes in I'll look into it.

Speaking of the turn Sandover's been holding it for a long while now. I may not get to play a turn today.

Here me roar!

Sandover's city goes down.

He moved all the War Chariots out of the city and whipped a spear. I take the city easily and promote an HA to mounted promo. 2 spears and 3 HAs in the city 1 spear and 3 HAs in the city next turn. Only lost one cat and one axe... But really I should have only lost one cat:

96% loses. Look how many battles the spear had to win. It was already at 3 health from the collateral!

Oh well. Serdoa moved. I have him covered.

The moment he steps off that jungle at least one cat hits him and then 5 HAs and then 3 axes and another archer will finish the job. In the north next turn I'll have 2 cats plus all that other stuff.

EOT: Spear, HA built. Next turn: 2 HA, 1 Cat

Sent Sandover an offer:

Quote:Sandover,

I've taken Thespis Hill. Obviously you expected it as you ran the Chariots out. You won a 96% battle, but your lucks out after that I'm afraid. You won't be able to retake the city as I have 2 spears, an HA with mounted promo and two more HAs after that. Your WC cannot make it though. Additionally I have a spear and 3 HAs moving into the city next turn and 2 cats a turn behind that.

The situation as it stands is that you are easier prey than Serdoa at the moment. As much as I'd rather go after him, you are more spread out, have less power and you have WCs to his Keshiks. I can easily hold off Serdoa at this point with cats in my territory while pursuing you. However, as I said I'd rather go after Serdoa. If you agree to peace I'll turn my attention north and won't pursue you further.

Lewwyn

If he accepts... I still have a shot. I can try to take out Serdoa and expand with FIN cottages. I'm a huge longshot, but I won't give up.

If Sandover doesn't accept I have to hold borders and can't move the extra cats and HA's north, which is just the end of the game.

You have loads of units, why dont you research monarchy and put those to good use?I think you'll win more then from curency.

Well, First off I'd need to research Medi and Priesthood before I could research Monarchy while currency is available to research now. I should be able to get trade routes with Scooter soon actually as I can see his border north of the newly conquered city. That'll be a big bonus.

With hereditary rule, yeah, I could fix my happiness with garrisoning units but then my units won't be able to go out and fight. I'm planning on destroying that south army next turn. I may attack it even if it stays on the jungle. 2 cats and HAs with shock should be able to break through Serdoa's stack. At which point I start moving towards Serdoa. When my units are in his territory sucking up support, those trade routes are going to be supplementing my income very handily, esp if I get the road to Scooter in the next few turns.

So, yeah, Monarchy will only help for about the next 5-6 turns then all my units will be put to a different use. I'm not building units just to sit around.

No turn yet, but Sandover replied:

Quote:Lewwyn,

I find your way of making me sound like an easy target pretty funny. Sure, you tricked me into believing all you wanted to do was fight Serdoa. And sure, you got a (temporary) advantage out of that. However, you're awfully mistaken if you think you can beat me in a war I'm actually prepared to fight. White peace is out of the question.

His Dark Lordship, Pharaoh Sandover

... Of course not. Why are all my neighbors in this game unreasonable warmongers!!! I responded:

Quote:Sandover,

I'm not sure what you expected? You declared war on me and then told me you wanted to settle even closer? And I had already told you that your last plant pissed me off and hinted I would come for it...

Lewwyn

I think I said it all there... If I were him I would have defended Thespis a little better! Don't get all high and mighty on me about being "tricked"! So fucking ignorantly arrogant. I am not impressed with your play Sandover.

So what does this mean for me? I guess I have to choose whether to go after Sandover or Serdoa. I should build a couple galleys and boat an army to Sandover.

haha what kind of message is that? "I only declared war on you because I thought you'd be too busy fighting someone else to fight back at me" ???

Dunno. It's just stupid. I sent him an additional message:

Quote:Look at it this way. If you don't give me peace I will continue and you will be unable to catch up to Scooter. Without peace I have no chance of completely wiping out Serdoa. With peace I have a chance and still an outside chance at catching Scooter. Thus if you do not give me peace I see no chance of winning and my only recourse will be to pull a "Serdoa" on you to ensure that you have no shot anything either. So either peace or we just play out a game with no one but Gaspar having a shot at catching Scooter.

Just so you know, Scooter and I have an agreement and the minute your NAP runs out he's going to come at you, he won't come towards me. So you can either spend your time until that happens building an outdated army or trying to keep tech parity to give yourself a shot.

Lewwyn

We'll see if that triggers anything in his thick skull.
