[PB66] Lurking the Chaos

T100
Welcome back to part 2 of 'Charriu is bumbling through a turn report without ever watching the game over the last 50 turns'. So let's dive into the report. As always all the data can be found here: PB66 Tracking

Before we start some notable observations:
  • JackRB is the first player to be eliminated at the hands of Mjmd in T83.
  • Piccadilly & Plemo lost a city to barbarians twice (T72 and T77)
  • But that didn't stop them waging war against Magic Science and starting to take over their land.
  • Wonders being done are the Great Lighthouse (T66, Superdeath) Oracle (T75, Miguelito), Colossus (T90, Magic Science) Pyramids (T95, Miguelito), the Hanging Gardens (T99, GKC)

Since this PB is running CtH 3.0, we got some new data points. By now I've explained all data points here: data points explanation

General state of the game
City count
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 18
  2. Gavagai = 13
  3. Piccadilly & Plemo = 13
  4. Amicalola = 11
  5. Miguelito = 11
  6. Tarkeel = 11
  7. Superdeath = 11
  8. Vanrober = 11
  9. Alhazard = 10
  10. GKC = 9
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 6
  12. JackRB = 0
Population
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 74
  2. Gavagai = 58
  3. Amicalola = 51
  4. Piccadilly & Plemo = 50
  5. Alhazard = 48
  6. GKC = 42
  7. Tarkeel = 42
  8. Vanrober = 41
  9. Miguelito = 40
  10. Superdeath = 34
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 13
  12. JackRB = 0
It's no wonder that Mjmd is on top of the list with all the newly acquired cities from JackRB. Gavagai also looks likely to carve themself a bigger empire without bloodshed like Piccadilly & Plemo did. The rest except for Magic Science is closely together. Although Superdeath is notably lagging behind in pop and to be fair GKC was also behind in pop before the Hanging Gardens.

Current turn Gold at 100%
  1. Mjmd (ORG) = 196
  2. Gavagai = 190
  3. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 152
  4. Superdeath (ORG, AGG) = 134
  5. Amicalola = 117
  6. Alhazard (ORG) = 115
  7. Tarkeel (ORG) = 116
  8. Miguelito (ORG) = 109
  9. Vanrober ORG) = 101
  10. GKC (AGG) = 90
  11. Magic Science = 48
  12. JackRB (ORG, PRO) = 0
Thanks to the Great Lighthouse Superdeath is getting a bit away from the large midfield.

Current turn total maintenance
  1. Magic Science = 55
  2. Miguelito (ORG) = 75
  3. Vanrober ORG) = 80
  4. Superdeath (ORG, AGG) = 81
  5. Alhazard (ORG) = 85
  6. GKC (AGG) = 85
  7. Tarkeel (ORG) = 98
  8. Amicalola = 103
  9. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 152
  10. Gavagai = 156
  11. Mjmd (ORG) = 185
  12. JackRB (ORG, PRO) = 0
Being ORG, having Ikhanda and a huge empire is a big benefit for Mjmd right now even though he pays the most. Piccadilly & Plemo also benefit from AGG in quiet a good way.

Current turn maintenance-gold delta
  1. Superdeath (ORG, AGG) = 53
  2. Miguelito (ORG) = 34
  3. Gavagai = 34
  4. Alhazard (ORG) = 30
  5. Vanrober ORG) = 21
  6. Tarkeel (ORG) = 18
  7. Amicalola = 14
  8. Mjmd (ORG) = 11
  9. GKC (AGG) = 5
  10. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 0
  11. Magic Science = -7
  12. JackRB (ORG, PRO) = 0
Superdeath must be enjoying this PB right now. No wonder the two out of the top three players are low in this category right now, because of their huge empires. But keep in mind that the third top player, Gavagai, is doing quite well here.

Accumulated actual science
  1. Superdeath (ORG, AGG) = 2354
  2. Gavagai = 1901
  3. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 1895
  4. Vanrober ORG) = 1729
  5. Amicalola = 1583
  6. GKC (AGG) = 1406
  7. Alhazard (ORG) = 1391
  8. JackRB (ORG, PRO) = 1341
  9. Miguelito (ORG) = 1295
  10. Tarkeel (ORG) = 1197
  11. Magic Science = 1186
  12. Mjmd (ORG) = 961
Yes, Superdeath probably enjoys his time right now. You can also see how big of an impact this early conquest had on Mjmd, will he be able to get his empire back on its feet in time?

But what exactly did the players do with all those beakers. Well fear not here it is:

It should be fairly self explantory. It's all the techs the players have researched so far. The number in front is the turn the players acquired the tech. Noteworthy are that Gavagai and Superdeath both already have Currency. Miguelito has 3 holy cities.

Food

Accumulated food towards growth
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 2350
  2. Piccadilly & Plemo = 1514
  3. Miguelito = 1493
  4. Vanrober = 1468
  5. Amicalola (EXP) = 1468
  6. Alhazard = 1429
  7. Gavagai (EXP) = 1414
  8. Tarkeel (EXP) = 1329
  9. Magic Science (IMP) = 1246
  10. Superdeath = 1137
  11. GKC = 950
  12. JackRB = 654
To nobody's suprise bigger empires tend to have bigger growth numbers here. Most of the players are bunched together in the midfield. But there are two noteworthy outliers: Superdeath and GKC, who both were low in pop numbers as we've seen.

Accumulated food kept (Granaries etc.)
  1. Amicalola (EXP) = 1160
  2. Tarkeel (EXP) = 1132
  3. Mjmd (IMP) = 1086
  4. Alhazard = 1001
  5. Gavagai (EXP) = 856
  6. Miguelito = 665
  7. Vanrober = 640
  8. Magic Science (IMP) = 474
  9. Piccadilly & Plemo = 391
  10. GKC = 261
  11. Superdeath = 134
  12. JackRB = 50
I think it's safe to say that EXP definitely has an impact with all 3 EXP players in the top 5 here. We already knew from the last report that Tarkeel and Amicalola built those Granaries before T50 and I think that's the way to go with EXP. Getting those granaries up sooner then others. In hindsight this is a good synergy with EXP and Aztec for Gavagai that I also have to try at some point.

Production
Accumulated total production
You will find the unmodified production in parenthesis if it differs. I only show relevant traits here.
  1. Amicalola (EXP, CHA) = 4990 (4353)
  2. Mjmd (IMP, ORG) = 4759 (4466)
  3. Miguelito (ORG, SPI)= 4059 (3704)
  4. Vanrober (ORG, CRE) = 3970 (3591)
  5. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 3846 (3727)
  6. Magic Science (IMP, ORG) = 3775 (3471)
  7. Gavagai (EXP, CRE) = 3746 (3398)
  8. Tarkeel (EXP) = 3721 (3448)
  9. Alhazard (ORG) = 3478 (3290)
  10. GKC (AGG, CRE) = 3390 (3129)
  11. Superdeath (ORG) = 3163 (2979)
  12. JackRB (ORG) = 1646 (1616)
Yes, Amicalola beat the bigger empire of Mjmds thanks to modifieres, but even without them they are close together.

Total whip production
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 2130
  2. Tarkeel (EXP) = 1930
  3. Amicalola (EXP) = 1680
  4. Miguelito = 1590
  5. Alhazard = 1560
  6. Magic Science (IMP) = 1540
  7. Vanrober = 1440
  8. Gavagai (EXP) = 1140
  9. Piccadilly & Plemo = 1020
  10. Superdeath = 795
  11. JackRB = 600
  12. GKC = 550
This looks very similar to the food kept statistic with the better EXP players being higher in this category, too.
Total chop production
  1. Amicalola (EXP) = 490
  2. Superdeath = 482
  3. GKC = 444
  4. Alhazard = 432
  5. Magic Science (IMP) = 399
  6. Miguelito = 396
  7. Mjmd (IMP) = 362
  8. Gavagai (EXP) = 360
  9. Piccadilly & Plemo = 340
  10. Tarkeel (EXP) = 273
  11. Vanrober = 200
  12. JackRB = 140
With the above data in mind we can say for sure that the traits produced the following amounts of extra hammers:

EXP (Amicalola) = 426
EXP (Tarkeel) = 273
EXP (Gavagai) = 271
IMP (Mjmd) = 223
IMP (Magic Science) = 177

Copper The Colossus (Magic Science) = 52
Copper The Colossus (Vanrober) = 5
Stone Walls (Amicalola) = 86
Stone Walls (Miguelito) = 8

  10. Miguelito = 0
  11. Tarkeel = 0
  12. Mjmd = 0
I'm tracking a lot more but there is not enough information there to justify an own paragraph. Therefore a little summary here:
Civics
Government: Miguelito switched into Representation in T95 thanks to Pyramids. Everybody else is a despot.
Legal: All of them are barbarians.
Labor: Everybody is a slaver, but Miguelito made a short trip down Caste System for 5 turns.
Religion: Everybody is a pagan except for Miguelito, who switched into organized religion in T100

War Weariness
Piccadilly & Plemo as well as Mjmd generated some WW during their conflicts, but so far they would have needed a pop 18 or 20 city to be affected by WW.

Barbarians
Since this is one of the few games in which the barbarians held a city for a good amount I figured it would be interesting to see, what they are doing with it. For reference they captured one of Piccadilly's city once for 1 turn and then for 21 turns. In both cases they first had to wait for the city to get out of revolution like everybody would have to do on a conquered city. That means they effectively held the city for 18 turns. During this time they:
  • Ran 100% gold during that time. They did that because they were crippled by maintenance and since they don't have a palace they are missing those crucially extra commerce.
  • They invested 27 hammers. 12 into a barracks and then they switched into a warrior investing the last 15 hammers.
  • They only invested 2 food into growth for 5 turns.
  • Because of their maintenance they also focused on commerce tiles working a 3 commerce tile at the end.

Comparing traits

The main goal of all this tracking of course is to compare the economic traits related around commerce income or maintenance reduction.

Like often on emperor games ORG looks to be the best trait around T100. Even for those that would do better with FIN it is close by. Of note is that GKC is making good use of AGG it seems.

Stay tuned for the T100 report.

One sympathizes with Miguelito and Ginger.  alright Fish for fish used to mean something, man.  alright  On the other hand, if by this point you don't know Amica's going to hit you if you're standing in his way, I don't know what to tell you. And then to have a guess at what's coming and put whips into infrastructure, when you've got a good shot at outscaling over the long run?  alright

No idea what Mig+Ginger have, but from Amica's screen, he's got 2x their power. I guess the question is if Amica can make this attack profitable enough to catch up to Picadillemo and Mjmd. Haven't been following closely enough to know, but it seems like we could have a three horse race, at least?  popcorn
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

T150
Welcome back to 'Charriu guessing what happened the last 50 turns'. So let's dive into the report. As always all the data can be found here: PB66 Tracking

Before we start some notable observations:
  • Magic Science was already on his deathbed 50 turns ago, nothing changed here.
  • Piccadilly & Plemo continued their war against Magic Science.
  • Amicalola started a war against Miguelito, but seems to be on the loosing side
  • Gavagai started his conquest against GKC
  • Superdeath looks to have started a war against Vanrober

Wonders have also been build. They are:
  • T104 Great Wall (Amicalola)
  • T112 Temple of Artemis (Tarkeel)
  • T119 Mausoleum of Mausolos (Gavagai)
  • T135 Apostolic Palace (Tarkeel)
  • T136 Great Library (GKC)
  • T141 Shwedagon Paya (Piccadilly)
  • T142 Statue of Zeus (Piccadilly)
  • T143 Parthenon (Piccadilly)
  • T145 Chichen Itza (Vanrober)

Since this PB is running CtH 3.0, we got some new data points. By now I've explained all data points here: data points explanation

General state of the game

  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 3
  12. JackRB = 0
Mjmd and Piccadilly are still the top, but the already have a group of players directly behind them like Gavagai, Tarkeel, Alhazard and Superdeath. The rest is still a bit small or already dying.

Current turn Gold at 100%
  1. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 728

  10. Miguelito (ORG) = 4112
  11. JackRB (ORG, PRO) = 1341
  12. Magic Science = 1257
This is very interesting. First the two top players are in the midfield here. Vanrober is doing surprisingly well in this category. I think this will be a hard nut to crack for Superdeath.

But what exactly did the players do with all those beakers. Well fear not here it is:

It should be fairly self explanatory. It's all the techs the players have researched so far. The number in front is the turn the players acquired the tech.

Food
Accumulated food towards growth
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 7493
  2. Piccadilly & Plemo = 6011
  3. Superdeath = 4720
  4. Tarkeel (EXP) = 4630
  5. Alhazard = 4494
  6. Miguelito = 4389
  7. Amicalola (EXP) = 4320
  8. Vanrober = 4092
  9. Gavagai (EXP) = 4030
  10. GKC = 3062
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 1745
  12. JackRB = 654
To nobody's suprise bigger empires tend to have bigger growth numbers here. Most of the players are bunched together in the midfield.

Accumulated food kept (Granaries etc.)
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 5589
  2. Tarkeel (EXP) = 4204
  3. Piccadilly & Plemo = 4145
  4. Amicalola (EXP) = 3887
  5. Alhazard = 3633
  6. Miguelito = 3300
  7. Gavagai (EXP) = 3298
  8. Superdeath = 2778
  9. Vanrober = 2766
  10. GKC = 1590
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 847
  12. JackRB = 50
Of course the two top players with more cities rank higher here. But it's noteworthy that the EXP players stay in the TOP 4. EXP is still giving a measurable food bonus even at T150.

Production
Accumulated total production
  1. Mjmd (IMP, ORG) = 19885 (17229)
  2. Amicalola (EXP, CHA) = 15966 (14330)
  3. Gavagai (EXP, CRE) = 15439 (13295)
  4. Piccadilly & Plemo (AGG, PRO) = 15234 (14009)
  5. Tarkeel (EXP, ORG) = 14819 (12572)
  6. Superdeath (ORG, AGG) = 14181 (12288)
  7. Miguelito (ORG, SPI)= 13549 (12071)
  8. Vanrober (ORG, CRE) = 12741 (10737)
  9. Alhazard (ORG, CHA) = 12141 (11030)
  10. GKC (AGG, CRE) = 10181 (9586)
  11. Magic Science (IMP, ORG) = 5349 (4996)
  12. JackRB (ORG) = 1646 (1616)
There's quite a gap between Mjmd and Piccadilly which is interesting.

Total whip production
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 8030
  2. Amicalola (EXP) = 7090
  3. Miguelito = 6880
  4. Alhazard = 5280
  5. Piccadilly & Plemo = 4750
  6. Superdeath = 4640
  7. Tarkeel (EXP) = 4600
  8. Vanrober = 4010
  9. Gavagai (EXP) = 3180
  10. GKC = 2900
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 2600
  12. JackRB = 600
Well here we have one answer to why Piccadilly has fewer hammers invested then Mjmd.
Total chop production
  1. Mjmd (IMP) = 1300
  2. Superdeath = 1112
  3. Gavagai (EXP) = 1080
  4. Alhazard = 902
  5. Piccadilly & Plemo = 890
  6. Miguelito = 850
  7. GKC = 774
  8. Amicalola (EXP) = 670
  9. Tarkeel (EXP) = 587
  10. Vanrober = 548
  11. Magic Science (IMP) = 451
  12. JackRB = 140
Normally I would split up these numbers to their respective modifiers here. But due to a bug I am no longer able to do this. This bug wrote down the production object of the last turn even though it was finished already. I was able to fix that manually in the data for the T100 report. But for the T150 this is just too much work. That bug is already fixed in later versions. Although there seems to be another one that RefSteel noticed. In short the production code is nasty. smile

This is rather interesting as GKC is playing America. If you participate in the mod discussion you may remember that the American UB was a topic there not that long ago with the opinion that it is too strong. If it is too strong then this game isn't showing this. GKC isn't exactly swimming in Great People. Yes the UB allowed him to generate a Great Engineer easier, which is nice. We also have to keep in mind that GKC is not combining the UB with PHI for even more GPP.

I'm tracking a lot more but there is not enough information there to justify an own paragraph. Therefore a little summary here:
Civics
Government: Miguelito remained in Representation until T116 switching into Police State only returning to Representation in T149. Tarkeel switched into Hereditary Rule very early in T108. Other players followed him in T140 (Superdeath), T141 (Gavagai) and Piccadilly (T147). The rest are despots.
Legal: Superdeath is the first to switch here in T135 into Bureaucracy. Gavagai followed him in T141 only to switch into Vassalage in T147. Piccadilly too switched into Vassalage in T147.
Labor: Gavagai and Piccadilly both switched into Caste System in T141. But while Gavagai kept it Piccadilly returned to Slavery in T146. The rest are cruel slave holders as always. whip Oh except for the Barbarians who keep out of it as always. smile
Religion: Miguelito kept practicing Organized Religion until T116 switching into Theocracy only returning to Organized Religion in T149. Others tried Organized Religion too like Tarkeel in T108 and Amicalola in T110. Piccadilly mixing up things a bit and switched into Free Religion in T141 thanks to Shwedagon Paya.

War Weariness
Piccadilly & Plemo would have expierenced WW unhappiness of 1 in 10+ cities and 2 in 19+ cities during his war agains Magic Science. Same for Amicalola and Miguelito for their respective wars. The rest remains happy.

Comparing traits

The main goal of all this tracking of course is to compare the economic traits related around commerce income or maintenance reduction.

We are at the breaking point were FIN takes over from ORG in the top position. AGG is doing very well compared to PRO, which is due to more players giving each other foreign trade routes. Also because water is relevant you can also expect the players to have more units in general (land and water units needed). This of course also helps AGG.

Stay tuned for the T200 report.

Pretty sad that MJMD thinks Plemo is cheating. Hopefully untrue, but always sad.

I'm tracking a lot more but there is not enough information there to justify an own paragraph. Therefore a little summary here:
Civics
Government: Piccadilly adopted Representation in T163. Miguelito is still in that civic. Hereditary Rule was adopted by Mjmd in T154 and T158. Tarkeel, Gavagai and Superdeath are also still in that civic.
Legal: Piccadilly switched a bit first from Vassallage into Bureaucracy in T157 then into Nationhood in T163. Mjmd similar first switched into Vassalage in T154 but then directly into Nationhood in T161. Miguelito is running Bureaucracy since T155 and Superdeath is still in it. Tarkeel made a late switch from Barbarism into Nationhood in T193. Gavagai in a similar way from Vassalage into Nationhood in T197.
Labor: Piccadilly switched a bit first from Slavery into Caste System in T163 then into Serfdom in T170. Mjmd was mostly in Slavery with short runs in Serfdom and Caste System during golden ages. Miguelito was in Caste System, Slavery (T155), Serfdom (T164), Slavery (176), Serfdom (T186), Caste System (T192) and finally Serfdom (T200). Tarkeel switched from Slavery to Serfdom in (T193). Gavagai did the same in T187). The rest are slavers.
Economy: Piccadilly is running Mercantilism since T157. Miguelito is in it since T192. Mjmd is running Free Market since T192. The rest is in Decentralization.
Religion: Piccadilly is still in Free Religion. Miguelito switched between Organized Religion and Theocracy in a constant matter. Tarkeel switched from Organized Religion to Theocracy in T193 and Gavagai did the same in T197. Mjmd switched into Organized Religion in T154 then Pacifism in T192 and finally Free Religion in T197.

Comparing traits

The main goal of all this tracking of course is to compare the economic traits related around commerce income or maintenance reduction.

Stay tuned for the T250 report.

By the by, who do we think is / is not inclined to concede? Obviously not going to suggest it, and this game is very underreported in general, but we seem to have an obvious snowballing frontrunner with no competitors who isn't getting dogpiled. Unless someone's (MJMD?) hoping to beat them to space, the future seems somewhat settled.

I guess you mean picc/plemo as frontrunner... it's the only thread I read but it seems that mjmd also reports? Also some smaller countries but yeah, questionable if the follow-ups will manage to stop the leader.

At least, mjmd is at war with picc/plemo and probably hoping for support. Gavagai seems to make friendly signs (selling mining res), no idea but he should have some firepower to spice up things.
Hagen/Tarkeel are probably #4 and last I saw was a knight army. Even if they can upgrade into Kav soon, they will run into machine guns and infantry.

Generally, I think it's too soon to concede the game, still interesting to watch.
