[PB67 Mjmd] The Mandalay - ARE YOU WITH ME LADS!!!

I like your pick, it remind me of mine in PB60. Who needs expansion traits when you have micro? smile

Yaaaaaa, to say I'm relying on my micro quite a bit here is unfortunate. I really wanted easy India button...... But as that was taken I decided to do something powerful instead. The nature of slow leader of civ without any real early game is why I probably won't delay pottery for religion ect. I'll probably go for after of course, but will that cause me to lose Buddhism and Oracle. Almost surely. I may decide just to go early org religion. The nice thing about priesthood is that it isn't an expensive tech to just grab later when you actually want to start building Zigs.

Ok lets do some analysis

1. Bing - Cyrus (CHA/IMP) of Native Americans -  smoke smoke smoke I guess if the map ends up being tiny it might be a good pick. But as a reminder my math was for 30% land. Now if Commodore went with filled in donut and moved capital inland as I suggested if he was feeling lazy.... maybe he can knock someone out as that distance is actually pretty close. But even then I would just have rather had Zulu, so ya  smoke .

2. Charriu - Pericles (CRE/PHI) of America - I would have picked America first. Pericles would have been there on way back. That being said he is doing the thing. I suspect America is OP with new UB building. Lets see if Charriu can prove it.

3. Mjmd - Darius (FIN/ORG) of Sumeria - POWER - ECONOMICAL POWER!!!!. In seriousness I'll let you know how good this pick is once I see how much space I have. Org Sumeria still did ok in PB63 though so as long as I can avoid early vulture wars I'll be fine.

4. Ginger + GKC - Huayna Capac (FIN/IND) of India - YOU TAKES MY PRECIOUS!!!! So the obvious is Stonehenge with this combo as I was also thinking of doing, but with Fin/Ind I am curious which other wonder targets they have in mind. IE can I still get away with Oracle? With Fin you want early pottery just like I do, but I'll actually have tech advantage with also having org.

5. Superdeath - LieuYe (ORG/PRO) of Mongolia - Spam cities and invade someone. If its smaller map with Keshiks; if larger with Knights. Its so SD. To note as the only protective leader this is also the best leader for stealing GLH from the Ind leaders. Its an overall solid pick.

6. Tarkeel - Roosevelt (IND/ORG) of Rome - This was the Ind leader I was looking at and I like it more than Capac. Org actually helps you early tech to whatever wonder goal you have. The question is what goal do they have? Rome is just a good civ and the UB may get more use than normal here.

Basically I see 3 players who could be going for GLH. I would kind of like to compete for Oracle, but not at cost of pottery, but only Tarkeel can maybe* get away with that probably. I do find it interesting we ended up with 2 Ind leaders. One maybe* makes sense, but 2?

I also do want org religion as I don't see getting Stonehenge. Map will determine how fast I go for. IE sailing still will probably take priority over org religion unless there just aren't islands.

No half-justified ad hominem comments on the other players' civ styles? Booooo! protest

Something along the lines of "I don't think Superdeath has to the micro to pull off double economic traits, but maybe the map will be big enough or his neighbor luck it doesn't matter?"

Ya that was about the only one I omitted.

Like, more river(s) and an ivory for early happy. Don't like desert to my east, but hopefully some coastal cities eventually.

Also like is the 234 land tiles per player yikes  . Its not that off my calc, but even assuming some astro islands that is some nice breathing room for slow leader of civ that doesn't want to get in an axe fight.

I was 3rd to settled and the other two players have water starts.

DANGER MJMD DANGER!!!!

So SD MOVED capitals. Which means he moved his scout onto a plains hill T0 and then likely moved his settler there. Thanks to diplo he revealed it was 2 tiles. Doesn't actually matter because we can just calc T1-4. The MAXIMUM tiles between our capitals is now 12 tiles (or 11 actual). That is like 1 city each...... Also, look north, does it look like there are chokes that way? NOPE. Now as long as Commodore put his copper and horse the OTHER way it might be totally fine.

On the plus side dry corns? I do like having stone.

Thanks to diplo have SD map and YA I don't blame him for moving either. Commodore really like dry sheep doesn't he?

SO YAAA even closer than I thought. I shared most of my map in trade and we've discussed spots a little. I'm highly considering 2nd city to be the river bend one as if I end up with a religion the odds favor it to spawn there. The river also bends back south which is nice to see.

I did go ahead and say the corn up there is his and the stone is mine. I may have to wait until T50 border pop for that city now though.

Discovered Tarkeel of Rome left of SD. Via diplo trying to determine where scout goes now. I was hoping that bit of land SW was all mine, but now I have doubts so I may swing back down.

Also, see the horrific dotmap of SW depending if I decide to settle on gems or not. Its a horrible region to settle in general though.

As far as micro I had beautiful 2 worker settle T31 set up....... assuming I had BW..... Ya quick micro via spreadsheet sometimes has flaws. But didn't waste much time on it as obviously first time I tested it fell through. Sadly it doesn't look like 2 worker first is that efficient with how techs actually line up and movement (SD gets such better movement) so my worker will be just wasting some moves going to forested hill NE of capital, roading and then double chopping. Plain boring T29 settle with 1 worker but I don't start improving corn until T30.

As far as tech I think I'm doing something different this game and going pottery right after BW skipping fishing. I think it makes more sense than going AH for a dry sheep; better food payback. I'll build 2nd worker 1 turn size 4 then whip granary (some prebuilt) and then finish worker with chop from other worker. Chop 1 forest into a settler and 2 pop whip next settler.

Copper could be worse. TECHNICALLY I can grab it and a new food with the cow, but currently due to not seeing any happy resources beyond a cow I'll go with the dot map for settling on gems. I probably won't settle until my 4th city. For whatever its worth I have a T100 NAP with SD. I also have his graphs and I'm hoping that neither his copper or horse is next to another resource (which means his entire capital cross). He is going to have a lot of hard roading through forest to wherever he goes. Those forests will be nice to catch up, but I think I'm safe in the short term.

Anyways, I've never gone for an early granary, so I thought why not? Seems to be the situation it might do well and some early cottages won't go amiss as financial either although I won't be overdoing.

Edit: As I was checking diplo channel tech thread I remembered that Ginger had finally noticed map size. Tarkeel looks like he did math as well ahead of time and not you know after picks smoke .  Meanwhile I'm over here with doesn't want to be anywhere in axe range leader and civ and sitting 10 tiles from SD cry
